Advice needed on a 97 Ford escort auto31 Oct 2005 17:55 GMT5
I am looking to buy a 97 escort estate. It is an auto box with 52k on the
clock. No history but all MOTs.
I test drove it and it seemed fine except when I stopped and had foot on
brake, it wanted to pull and the revs kept dropping and picking up. I know

number plates as long as they are of a certain format e.g. B4OWN or
B4OWNmr etc but where can you get tha chance to obtain the more
expensive private number plates such as ROB or STEVE etc which follow

Untaxed cars & letters / fines from the DVLA31 Oct 2005 00:22 GMT6
I think it was at the start of '03 when the DVLA started their
advertising campaign where they stressed that they had all the
addresses of all the registered keepers of vehicles that were not
taxed / declared SORN on their computer, and that they'd be sending

used car from dealer - number of keepers?28 Oct 2005 20:48 GMT28
A friend of mine has put down a deposit of 200 gbp on a car from a
dealer, and was informed that it had two previous owners (it was new in
1999).
However, she got one of those AA reports on the history of the car, and
Road tax exemption... old imported car28 Oct 2005 19:58 GMT6
I'm looking to buy an older car from France. The ones I'm looking at
tend to be 1973 models. I know that the exemption from UK road tax
applies to cars manufactured prior to 1/1/73. Is there any way to fiddle
this when registering the car in the UK?
All right, who's got it?28 Oct 2005 19:49 GMT3
Just heard on the radio that someone's nicked the Anglia used in the Harry
Potter films.
That's despite it being described as being in poor condition, and unable to
be driven away.
