Is it any good? I'm thinking of taking the plunge. Either as a New Passat or Octavia. It seems a bit too good to be true - an auto at least as economical as a manual?

If I was to buy a van from someone trading 'on the quiet', and they wrote 'sold as seen' on the receipt, would I still be covered if something majorly major goes wrong within 3 months with my basic rights under the sale of goods act?

I'm actually toying semi seriously about getting one of these dinky thingies s/hand as a cheap runabout especially as I live only about 5 miles from work. I would consider public transport if it didn't mean two buses and I don't fancy the motorbike/pushbike/scooter route :(
