If I want to change lanes on the motorway I check my mirrors and I
look over my shoulder etc.. If there's no gap or perhaps I can see a
gap further back I keep driving until the last of the cars goes by

Does anyone have any views on the reliability of the current VW Golf -

Thanks,
John.
Variable Speed Limits - Whats the theory behind them?19 Mar 2006 14:36 GMT10
On J10 to 15? of M25 and on M42 there are variable speed limits and
"active traffic" management.
I'm guessing that the main thinking behind this is that the motoway holds
a greater volume of traffic at lower speeds?

turbo reliability question17 Mar 2006 20:25 GMT16
Prompted by various people saying 'ooh, don't want a turbo with lots of
miles' type things, and a general lack of 'my turbo broke' stories on here
and .maintenance, I started wondering : how often do turbos fail?
Diesel or petrol, abused or not. (yes, I know about letting them ...

15w higher cost than 10w castrol GTX ?17 Mar 2006 17:57 GMT4
Hi,  instead of changing the oil i thought i would just top up with a new
oil, since it seems nearly a quarter empty.  My corolla has done 80 K  miles
and when in Asda Supermarket yesterday I saw 5L of 10w-40 castrol gtx for
£13.99 and 5L of 15w-40 castrol gtx for £14.88, which said ...
ooh unlucky17 Mar 2006 13:44 GMT38
My wife is generally a very good driver to a point that I've never seen her
do anything illegal or dangerous while on the road.
Yesterday she came off the M5 at J3 and upon reaching the lights by the
island they changed to amber. Now (and this is totally out of character)

story) and I cam across this HILARIOUS ebay auction.
Lucky bugger!17 Mar 2006 10:31 GMT5
Had to go and rescue brother-in-law at 5.30pm yesterday. He'd broken down on
the busiest roundabout in Thanet - on the main road to/from
Canterbury/Dover.
I discovered his clutch cable had broken so I offered to tow him or give him
Why didn't he turn the ignition off?16 Mar 2006 17:41 GMT78
<http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4796264.stm>
There's obviously some detail I'm missing in this story. It's about a
BMW 318, the accelerator jammed and he burned his brakes out trying to
slow down. The headline says he drove for 60 miles in this state.
Amber/yellow lights on vehicles - legailities.16 Mar 2006 14:00 GMT16
If I buy a car which has been used (say) by the AA, and has an
amber light on, that can be set flashing, are there legalities
that I should consider? Can I use the flashing light?
