| Insuring/taxing a "new" used car | 10 Mar 2006 16:12 GMT | 29 |
I'm planning on buying a used car soon. There are various cars that I am interested in but none of them are taxed and they are being sold by a dealer rather than privately. Possibly a stupid question, but with no tax, how is one meant to drive

| Fuel economy on different brands of fuel | 10 Mar 2006 08:23 GMT | 25 |
All of our local petrol comes out of the same refinery only a few miles from here. You can watch the tankers with all the different brands driving out of the gates. Therefore I assumed it was all much the same. However, the local esso station closed down and I started filling up ...

Whenever I look side-on at cars that have roof boxes on top I wonder why they are so high up in relation to the roof? Whether Thule branded or Halfords etc. there is always 1/2 a ft of clearance between the actual roof top and the roof rack bars.

..in terms of reliability and longevity rather than appearance and stature!? Decided today I was very proud of my 1997 (P) Fiesta Encore 1.3 (8valve) that turned over 100k yesterday - apart from the usual and expected wearing out of normal components, it has been the most reliable ...

| Think once, think twice campaign | 09 Mar 2006 01:05 GMT | 11 |
There is a new TV and radio advertising campaign at the moment. It advises car drivers to "think again" when pulling out of a junction, so as to avoid accidents with oncoming motorbikes. Similar to the "think once, think twice" ads.

| Sensible new car - budget of up to 16.5k - what would you buy | 08 Mar 2006 22:11 GMT | 34 |
I opted out of our company car scheme an get a monthly allowance which I have to use to buy a car that meets the car policy requirements as well as my own needs. It's pointless suggesting a 10 year old M5 or Steve H's passat or any of the other usual suspects that crop up here. ...
