Young Drivers11 Apr 2006 20:03 GMT244
Listening to the radio today, AA report that teenage driver fatalities
have doubled in the last 5 years.
Do you think this has anything to do with 17 year olds driving Saxo's,
Corsa's and the like as though they were race cars?  How can they
Thin  Paint11 Apr 2006 16:15 GMT5
I have a Dark Blue Alfa 156 with a few small scratches that are about as
fine as would happen with a pin but the white primer is showing. The paint is
ever so thin (maybe to save weight and increase peformance !) It has a few
unsightly bumper scuffs too-any suggestions as to deal ...
Which Toyota Estima?11 Apr 2006 09:47 GMT16
I'm going to buy one of these (unless I absolutely hate it on the test
drive).  Here's the choice, both are fresh grey imports from Japan and
both from people who import them for a living.  The imports are better
than the Previa (name it sold under in the UK) because they are turbo

Alternator - repair or replace?10 Apr 2006 21:46 GMT9
My mum has a Golf which is 4 years old. Apparently the alternator is faulty
and isn't charging the battery. The garage is suggesting a repair instead of
a replacement. I've never heard of repairing an alternator - is this a
viable alternative to a replacement?
Alfa 156 2.0TS or 2.4TD10 Apr 2006 19:07 GMT57
Im after a Alfa 156 and cant decide between the 2.0 twin spark petrol or the
2.4 turbo diesel.
I love the simplicity of diesel but is the performance there?
Any input aprreciated.
Timing chain and misfiring10 Apr 2006 11:03 GMT7
My old Carlton has a spark plug that's crossthreaded and a timing chain
that needs adjustment, according to the guy who gave it a service.  I
didn't talk to the guy (one of these at home services done while I was
at work), so hence I'm asking here.

I've been putting together the latest version of my Datasheet.
Now not a lot of people know this, but we had a little house fire last year
and I lost a whole bunch of archive material including car magazines, so I'm
struggling to fill in some of the gaps in the sheet.

Digital dashboard woes08 Apr 2006 21:12 GMT3
Bought a Citroen ZX from new in the early '90ies and after 120 k miles the
milometer packed up and needed replacing, which made the car look clocked.
When I bought a Citroen Picasso from new in 2000 I thought great, the
digital dashboard means there are no moving parts to go wrong ...
Tyre pressures info?08 Apr 2006 14:08 GMT8
Are there any websites that you can go to which give you the correct
tyre pressures for a particular kind of tyre and/or car? I'm actually
looking for the tyre pressures for a 1996 renault clio 1.2 (UK
registration) but any site dealing in cars/tyres commonly found in the

Really like these but not keen on front wheel drive. Is torque steer a
problem or should I save up for a
4 wheel drive turbo? Is the V6 much qicker than the 16V?
Replacement Car Radio07 Apr 2006 19:05 GMT3
The radio in my Skoda Octavia is cr@p and is getting worse.  I'm not
fussy about what I replace it with as long as it has some sort of
recommendation (and it has LW so that I can listen to the cricket).
I've a CD changer so it needs to have the appropriate connector.  I
Primera diesel?07 Apr 2006 12:30 GMT8
Anyone know what is happening with the Primera diesel or the Primera
generally - has it come to its end of life?
I was reading a review on Honestjohn's website about them from 2004 and he
seemed to love the car but when I have gone to look for Primera's diesels
