My car doesn't exist15 Apr 2007 18:58 GMT10
I was looking for quotes to renew my car insurance the other day and found
that my model doesn't appear to exist on a number of company websites.
I have a 140bhp Touran 2.0 tdi model bought last July.  Most insurance
companies (and Swintons) tell me that that car hasn't been made ...

Can anyone advise on this problem? What has happened and the likely
cost to fix my car it at the garage?
I have a Peugeot 206 GLX that has given 95000 miles completely trouble-
free motoring. This evening I started it up and immediately there was
Insurance with provisional license15 Apr 2007 05:47 GMT2
I am getting a new car but I only have a provisional license. I have a
friend who is willing to assist me in learning, and keep the car at his
address until I pass my test.
Obviously I would expect it will be expensive for me to get insurance in

Nearly hand made - was quite limited production by the time this was
made.  This late facelift model was only made for 1 year 96/97 with

Volvo S60 Hollow noise coming from rear end???14 Apr 2007 18:29 GMT3
Sounds like parcel shelf or something similar making a hollow rattling noise
over bumps - even slight ones.
Took it to the main dealer - technician and his boss took for test drive and
up on ramp and said it is something that can happen inside the silencer. Car
DVLA shock14 Apr 2007 17:31 GMT1
I SORN'ed two vehicles the other day using the online service.  Today I
received paper acknowledgement.
The shock was that someone had placed both pieces of paper into ONE
envelope, when the road tax demands come in the same envelope I will wake
MOT extension14 Apr 2007 16:39 GMT11
It used to be the case that if you took your car for MOT within a month(?)
prior to the old one expiring, the remaining period was added to your new
certificate.
I'm taking my car for MOT next week but on checking the last certificate, I
Steering Rack14 Apr 2007 12:24 GMT37
The power steering oil on my Octavia dropped low, was topped up and
then dropped low again, and refused to top back up!
According to the garage the steering rack has failed and is leaking
the oil internally, and they want £700 to replace it.  This can't be
BMW 320d13 Apr 2007 11:47 GMT3
Didn't get much joy on alt.autos.bmw...so....:
I am in the market for one of these (currently have a E46 328i SE). There
seem to be quite a few knocking about around the X/Y plate 2001 for quite
reasonable money.
Fiat Punto 2004 53 reg13 Apr 2007 09:48 GMT1
Just bought myself a little Fiat Punto from the auctions.  Nice little tidy
car, only 20k miles from new.  Has not come with a owners manual or service
history book, would like to get both of these.  Is a Fiat dealership the
only place to get them?

Top gear video available?11 Apr 2007 23:47 GMT5
Does anyone know of a newsgroup that posts complete Top Gear episodes?
My son turned me on to this show, and now I'm hooked. I'm in the USA,
which means we don't get this show.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Insurer recommendations11 Apr 2007 22:08 GMT7
Anyone know a good insurer for drivers with no NCB? Looking to insure my
girlfriend's car, a ZX 1.9D, probably with me as a named driver (4 years NCB
but used on another car). Any ideas for who's cheap? It's years since I rang
round anyone but modified insurers...
