Is this Elise 160S good value?19 Aug 2007 18:49 GMT40
I'm looking at a W plate Elise 160.  Its an S1 I think.  Its got 56k
miles and is on for £11995 at an independent lotus dealer with years
warranty.  I checked glass's on vauxhall site but it said they didn't
have prices for that car.  I check parkers and it gave 13k but said
Buying at auction?19 Aug 2007 10:49 GMT4
Can anyone tell me the significance of the fact that the V5 seems to be
unavailable quite often for cars coming up in the big auctions, such as BCA?
Can't see any explanation given on their website. Of course it could mean
that the car is a Cat C write off and is awaiting a VIC test ...
In-dash DVD - fitting to allow use whilst driving?18 Aug 2007 17:00 GMT4
I'm considering one of these after-market in-dash DVD players - I notice
Halfords offer free fitting on some of the ones I am considering.
But - are Halfords (and any other fitter, including myself for that matter)
duty bound to ensure that the DVD function stops when you take the ...
Result...18 Aug 2007 12:28 GMT2
I applied for a continuation resident's parking permit in June - about 2
weeks before the old one ran out. It hadn't arrived by the time I flew off
on holiday - a week after the old one had run off. Nothing unusual there
as I'd never received the replacement on time on earlier ...

Young driver clubs16 Aug 2007 20:00 GMT3
Many years ago, not long after I was old enough to drive myself, I read an
article about young driver clubs where any kids tall enough to reach the
pedals and see out of the windscreen at the same time could learn to drive,
on a track, and take a test equivalent to the full ...
ford mondeo 2.0 diesel zetec16 Aug 2007 10:27 GMT2
My mondeo from ford direct reg. 55 and under warranty has been in the
workshop 4 times for a loud whining grating noise on the steering which
starts about 50 miles into a journey. Despite recording this noise the
engineers insist there is nothing wrong and have given various excuses ...
Random car checks by Police15 Aug 2007 21:35 GMT42
At least one day in every fortnight the local plod have a random car
checking operation going on in a car park off a dual-carriageway (30mph
zone) near where I take my wife to work. They seem to pull over cars
completely at random, new and old, to check tyres, lights etc.

MOT rules question13 Aug 2007 16:18 GMT13
A friend of mine had a small accident in her 1993 Kia Pride resulting in
damage to the passenger door. This prevents the door from opening and it
cannot be fixed without a new door which is not available for this vehicle.
She never carries passengers so is not fussed about the ...
New car during insurance claim13 Aug 2007 02:43 GMT1
I've part-ex'd my car for a new one from a dealership which I will be
collecting during the following week. I have an unsettled insurance claim
which I've heard nothing about for over three months since I submitted the
incident report and just wondered what will happen to that ...
7 seaters and rear impact12 Aug 2007 22:17 GMT22
I am thinking of buying a 7-seater like Grand C4 Picasso or Mazda 5.
Only thing that bothers me is how little crumple zone there seems to be
between the rear of the car and the third row of seats.
I know most cars have 5-star NCAP rating nowadays but I don't think they
Speed Limiter - Cruse Control12 Aug 2007 19:37 GMT77
I have heard that some cars have cruse control that you can set so it won't
allow you to go over the speed limit.
For example you can set it at 30 mph and the car will stop you from going
over that speed in city driving.
