I have severe reservations about this.

Is the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class an Auto? And therefore, it would be
impossible to change gear at high speed in it?

OK I got a "reconditioned" gearbox put in. Now I think the clutch is
slipping. I've had the car for 6 years and never had the clutch done,
so I guess it's had a good innings considering I spent the last
few months without either 2nd gear, or 4th gear , or both.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how much this car will cost to fix and
what sort of damage has been doen to it - and is it worth it etc?
