Used-car model advice please :)21 Dec 2007 12:06 GMT10
I'm looking for some used car buying advice.
My criteria are: diesel, automatic, cruise control, reasonable
acceleration, compact to full size and last but not least a very soft
comfortable ride.  I've no interest in sports suspension.
Injury from malfunctioning airbag deployment21 Dec 2007 09:16 GMT6
FOAF was recently involved in a head-on car smash.  The only injury he
suffered was 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face and scalp (and most of
his hair singed off) due to the air bag "exploding".  Presumably the
lack of any other injury from the crash was in spite of the airbag,

Hopefully I'm going to have a look at it for her on Friday. I know she'll

Company Cars18 Dec 2007 15:43 GMT44
I've been thinking about opting back into the company scheme after several
years out of the loop. The CO2 rates make one hell of a difference - some
figures from my potentials list:

Windscreen fogging15 Dec 2007 20:18 GMT30
My fairly ancient car has developed a nasty case of fogging in
humid but not wet conditions, including when drying out the
morning dew.  Has anyone any idea what causes it and, more
importantly, how to remove it?

Frozen door locks13 Dec 2007 16:17 GMT31
Blimey, I'm out of practice with having to insert key/twist...
The Saab doesn't have remote locking - and the last couple of mornings
the door locks have been frozen solid. I've only got in by extending the
"pour tap-hot water" window-clearing regime to the locks and key. Not
A changing car market12 Dec 2007 11:24 GMT11
In these modern day times of even a basic runabout having a engine
management system not to mention having the processing power of super

Mazda won't start.12 Dec 2007 08:38 GMT8
Joy of joys, I just wanted to go for some dinner and my MX6 won't start.
It's turning over OK but there is no sign of it firing. I will pull a plug
and see if I am getting a spark and check if fuel is getting through.
If anyone can offer some kind words of sympathy it might just ...

What van. Advice wanted.10 Dec 2007 16:07 GMT10
Looking for a small cheap s/h van. No longer than 15ft 6" to fit my garage.
As long as it runs, and has an MOT I couldn't care less how old it is, what
it looks like, or whether it's petrol or diesel. It'll only be used over a
few weeks, short local runs, and then sold. It'll be ...
