The X-Type diesel of arround 2004ish age is on my next car shortlist.
But bluetooth handsfree is essential. Having had a lidl bluetooth
headunit fitted in my current banger saab, and gotten used to not having

Mazda London have sent me a flyer offering a new 1.8 MX-5 soft-top with air
con (who needs air con on a convertible?) and leather seats for £12.5k.
Offer ends 31 Dec apparently. Is this a good buy? Should I be getting
another £1 or 2k off the price?

What is the situation regarding road tax on import vehicles?28 Dec 2008 13:01 GMT14
Particularly post 2001 ones.
I thought it was still based on engine size, just like all cars pre-
2001, and emissions was based on pre-cat, or possibly even just a
visible smoke test.

2nd hand Prices - have they gone that mad?26 Dec 2008 21:28 GMT28
I've been offered two motors today via friends/ex colleagues.  People tend
to do that when they know you chop and change cars like I do.  I got offered
a 2002 plate , 64k mile Honda Jazz, for £2000, and a 1991 Mazda MX-5 in good
nick with T&T, FSH for £600.

small town road badly (not at all) maintained and damaged car22 Dec 2008 22:49 GMT13
Around over a week ago when it was really cold and icy I drove a car
in the morning and I lost control as black ice was on a very bendy
road. My car skid and hit a curb. I didn't drive more than 10 mph and
initially I thought all is ok, but later I noticed wired sound in my
F****ing insurance companies21 Dec 2008 14:51 GMT9
When you take out car insurance they always ask how many miles will you
drive in a year - how the hell do I know? Am I clairvoyant? No, I'm not, so
I usually say about 10k and that usually covers it.
For various reasons, since we bought this car on the 1st July, it's covered

would also be compatible with the car digital display and also the
Parking sensors.17 Dec 2008 20:17 GMT2
ISTR a while ago reading about some newish type of parking sensors that
were basically asome sort of electric-field sensitive plates that fitted
behind the bumper, instead of through-bumper ultrasonics.
Are they still about? Anybody got them?

My 1997 Scenic 1.6  has just started to occasionally splutter at low revs.
Sometimes the idle drops, but more usually it happens when pulling from low
