I can't remember the exact figure, but I though the later Minis on 12" wheels with teh 3.1 diff did about 20mph per 1000rpm? Only, either the thing I have got is very quick (for a 998cc!), or the speedo's very optimistic, I'm trying to work out which!

I have recently bought a 1975 Spitfire 1500 and have a worrying noise coming from what seems to be the middle of the back of the car. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas what it might be? it starts being noticable as a quite rumbling sound at about 20mph, between 40-60mph

Further to earlier post last week, my Traveller is now back at home complete with 1275cc upgrade ;o) Bad news is Im not allowed to give it any stick for first 500 miles so I dont know yet if it was woth it ;o(

This little snippet might be of interest to someone. I conversation with my uncle last week he mentioned that immediately prior to WW2 the family firm were engaged in buying in large cars at auction overhauling them and selling them on to Glasgow Corporation for conversion
