Spam from Practical Classics30 Jun 2005 20:02 GMT2
Has anyone else received a  spam email from a Richard Luff, Directory
Manager of Practical Classics trying to flog advertising space in their
forthcoming directory? To make it worse it has over 13Meg of Word docs as
attachments. I'm only glad I'm on broadband.

Oil loss from new engine27 Jun 2005 22:15 GMT23
Well the good news is that the Sprite passed the MOT yesterday after the
15-year rebuild. I have done about 15 miles so far and have noticed clouds
of stuff coming out of the top and bottom breather pipes (which go into a
1.5 L catch tank). I reckon it will do this until the ...
Engine Paint27 Jun 2005 02:21 GMT4
hi guys, does anyone have any experience of using a GOOD heatproof engine
paint?  In particular, I'm trying to get hold of a gloss (not satin) black.
Have just bought some of Halfords own brush-on, it's like water to apply
(not good), and doesn't cover over well.
SD1 Radiator filler plug26 Jun 2005 14:38 GMT1
Mine is plastic and decided to split as I replaced it after fitting a new
bottom hose and re-filling.
Rimmer wants 4.38 for a plastic one, 6.73 for brass.
89p in brass from B&Q - it's standard 1/2" BSP. ;-)

Fancy a Mini Cooper anyone? A quick respray and it'd be as good as new.

If I worked for the DVLA, I'd take a very close interest in anything
claiming to be the same car in the near future!
Why would anyone want a Classic car?24 Jun 2005 20:34 GMT268
I hope I am not opening a can of worms here, but can anyone please tell me
what the attraction is in classic cars?
My son is a 6ft 3" rugby player and delights in squeezing his large frame
into an old Triumph Herald. It constantly breaks down and yet he never
I want my capri back!!24 Jun 2005 09:42 GMT19
Basicly I sold my capri about 8 years ago She was a 1987 D reg 2.0
Laser in white Reg no: D262 ODM. If anyone knows of her whereabouts
please let me know. She was not perfect when I sold her (and bought an
Astra Belmont) But I loved her and have regretted it ever since. If
Anyone like Mustangs, Corvettes etc.?21 Jun 2005 19:42 GMT16
Get to Mallory Park on Sunday. In addition to our two truck races, there
will be a bunch of classic and post-historic touring car races.
Mustangs, Corvettes, Dolomite Sprints, Mini Coopers, RX3's etc. etc. Should
be cool.
"Elmo" keys for Austin Goodwood20 Jun 2005 09:10 GMT3
A friend is trying to get a copy of a key for his Austin 14 Goodwood, 1938.
The key is marked "Elmo" and he understands that it was one of a fairly
limited batch made by M Mole and Sons of Birmingham. A local locksmith
(with a comprehensive range) had no suitable blank.

Any pros / cons / weak points with the Audi Quattro? Relative costs of
maintenance? MPG etc?
Thanks.

RX7 engine life and rebuild costs ?17 Jun 2005 08:46 GMT42
FOAF has recently (two weeks ago) bought himself an RX7 - fairly recent
curvy sort, but with some mileage on it.  Anyway, the obvious has
happened - it died on the road and came home on a low-loader, suffering
from sick rotor seals.
Classic Insurance14 Jun 2005 16:32 GMT11
Any "Must ring" companies?
I'm looking for a multi car policy, and I rate quality of service higher
than *absolute* low price, but I won't pay over the top for it.
I also need flexibility on what they'll cover.
gt6 Front sealing block14 Jun 2005 00:15 GMT2
I need to replace the front sealing on my mark3 gt6. I've been told I need
to take the engine out. Any other way of doing this?

Classic car shows in France?13 Jun 2005 21:54 GMT1
Does anyone know if there are any classic car shows in France
(Rhône-Alpes region) over the next two weeks?  Even better if it is
close to Lyon!
I've tried some French websites, but no luck so far...
