I'm at the planning stages of the restoration of my Spitfire 1500, this
currently involves drinking tea and spending my hard earned on building my
tool collection. Before I splash out on a load of stuff I'm never going to
use can I have some input on what the 'must have' tools ...
Car damaged in car wash - suggested action?19 Aug 2005 18:13 GMT21
Last week I put my DS through an automatic car wash. The "wash" bit
went OK, but the drying vents failed to lift up as they went up the
windscreen and hit the car fairly hard. Luckily the vent edge was
rubber coated and the screen didn't break, but the whole car was

Priming aluminium18 Aug 2005 10:42 GMT2
Hi again, chums
I have a few small (50p) sized patches on my aluminium roof where the
paint has not stuff properly. I can easily chip the paint off, and the

source for colour-matched touch up paint?18 Aug 2005 09:09 GMT2
My red E-type has a very nice paint job, which is marred by a few

distributed over half the panels, they wanted £1500 to fix the paint

I need to do some corrosion prevention in two narrow spaces: where the
aluminium roof of my DS meets the steel bulkhead (bolted) and along a

Expanding Foam Stuff17 Aug 2005 13:14 GMT8
Just a quick question. I had a look at a car the other day, and though it's
a bit rough it's not all that bad overall.
However, the owner proudly told me he'd used that foam stuff in the box
sections. I'm fairly sure that's not a good thing, and time to walk away,
What is a good price to pay for a decent daily driver MG Midget?17 Aug 2005 11:57 GMT2
Not looking for a show winner.
Something that will look good enough when driven though, and keep going
with tinkering and fettling rather than spending days in the garage.
After having fun for a year with a Jap turbo 4x4 coupe, I've worked out

only need the pinion shims and crush spacer, but Moss Europe has stopped
