stripped shell removal29 Nov 2005 10:48 GMT13
I've got a couple of cars I'm stripping for parts - there's not going to be
much left after I've done this, just the shell, perhaps not even wheels.
Does anyone have any opinions on sensible disposal in the Solihull /
Birmingham areas.
E30 320is update29 Nov 2005 09:03 GMT9
For those interested...
Made the trip into Birmingham this morning to KMS Parts. Highly recommended,
helpful, knowledgable (sp?) staff and good stock. Came away with an electric
window switch, full set of brake pads, rear discs (the originals looked a
Insurance assessment28 Nov 2005 08:27 GMT13
After I collected a sizeable crunch in my PI, an insurance assessor came and
took photos yesterday.
He went away to decide whether it would be a category B (Break for spares)
or a category C (Repairable salvage).
How to Fix Condensation on Metal Garage Roof27 Nov 2005 14:48 GMT4
I am suffering from severe condensation problems on the inside of my
metal garage roof, to the extent that it is pretty much raining inside
the garage in the morning. I have had a brief look in to PU foam spray
kits but they work out pretty expensive (~£500) and at some point next
Legalities of removing a catalyst26 Nov 2005 11:55 GMT13
The catalytic converter in my 1991 Volvo 240 is rattling like crazy at about
2400 rpm. It's just been through its MOT and I noticed it was tested as a
'uncatalysed vehicle'. If I remove the cat, replacing it with the old
fashioned centre exhaust section and silencer, would I be ...
Eastenders25 Nov 2005 08:05 GMT6
what was the classic car the missus just saw on eastenders?  it the only
classic car she's shown an interest in!

SS Exhaust.25 Nov 2005 07:36 GMT3
The heatshield on the nearside downpipes on the SDI had come adrift and
was rattling. It's a Rimmer Bros SS sports system.
It appeared to have pulled a spot weld out and the exhaust was blowing, so
an MOT (due shortly) fail. Rimmers said it has a lifetime warranty, but
E30 320is - worth keeping?24 Nov 2005 14:57 GMT9
I have a BMW E30 320is as a daily hack at the moment, and was wondering is
it worth hanging onto when it's no longer required (soon-ish). Picked it up
for silly money, really nice condition, etc., etc. Are these rare? Haven't
seen any others for sale trawling the net, just the ...
How to rebuild a water pump? (Triumph)23 Nov 2005 18:38 GMT16
I seem to have accumulated a few Triumph Vitesse water pumps in various
states of decomposition so it seems a good idea to have a go at
rebuilding one or two.
Anyone know what's involved? The mechanical workshop at my workplace has
Measuring torque17 Nov 2005 15:47 GMT2
Folks,
My diff pinion has to be tightened to 13 to 20 lbs in. Any clues as to an
easy way to measure such a fine torque; note pounds/inch.
I guess it could involve a bar and a spring balance?
What Amazon doesn't want you to know.14 Nov 2005 16:54 GMT5
Gentle uk.rec.cars.classic reader,
First, my apology for cross-posting to this NG. Be assured that this is
a one-off. It will never happen again.
My sole purpose is to draw your attention to what I believe are dubious
Bond Bugs14 Nov 2005 10:42 GMT10
I have this sudden yen...
I don't suppose anyone has got one rotting away anywhere that they
don't want anymore?

Ragtop recommendations for a '79 Spitfire?12 Nov 2005 03:42 GMT3
I see numerous brands available, and don't know the difference between
them. There's Robbins, and um, some other one.
What's the most OEM-like in appearance, but what's the best overall?
Mine's ripped too close to the windows in several places. Doesn't matter
sheet steel11 Nov 2005 14:26 GMT15
I'm buying my first MIG welder shortly in readiness for when I get my first
classic. What gauge of steel do I need to practice on for things like floors
and wings. I spoke to one sheet metal fabricator and he said I needed cold
rolled steel but they used hot rolled. What's all ...
