Looking for MG Midget parts.26 Feb 2008 07:55 GMT2
My brother Geoff is restoring a 1973 MG Midget (round wheel-arches;
split bumper), and is looking for some parts:-
One rear spring in fairly new condition (one of the currently-fitted
springs has very worn leaves)
Touch-up paint?16 Feb 2008 13:15 GMT3
Problem - several small (eighth of an inch square maximum) stone chips on
the front of the car.  It's dark blue, primer is white/light grey, so they
show up.  Solution - easy - touch-up paint.  The sort that comes in a small
botlle with a nail varnish type brush attached to the ...
Spitfire Houndstooth Seats13 Feb 2008 21:41 GMT3
I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to help me locate the
correct Beige houndstooth fabric that was used on the 1977-1980
triumph spitfires.
I've seen the seat covers that are made by Newton Commercial and the
Who offers Dry-Ice Blasting in Scotland?12 Feb 2008 21:56 GMT2
I want to get the underbody protection stripped off my car for
restauration work. While chemical removal or sand-blasting are options,
I heard that dry-ice blasting is the best way to get this done.
Doeas anyone know of a specialist in Scotland who can offer that service?
Ford's latest "innovation"11 Feb 2008 11:26 GMT31
Heard on BBC World Service last night - a spokesman from Ford talking about
the new engine, due to be introduced in 2009.  Apparently it stops
automatically when the car is staionary, then restarts itself when you
depress the accelerator.  Wonderful for fuel consumption, ...
Electric fan only - a no-no on a big diesel?11 Feb 2008 11:08 GMT8
As I'm slowly getting my Land Rover Series 3 project together, I've
realised that there's very little clearance between the fan and the
radiator. It has a Perkins 4.203 (3.3 litre) engine out of a 6-cylinder
109 where it had been mounted further back taking advantage of the
Power steering ram overhall04 Feb 2008 19:45 GMT2
I'm looking for somewhere that can replace the seals (which I have) in a
power steering ram from a 1963 Austin.
I'm in Lincolnshire, but can travel.
I've tried the VDP club and local hydraulic firms, but this needs a couple
Banger or classic? Acid test.03 Feb 2008 03:51 GMT14
My current daily driver developed a slight squeal a couple of days
ago. Probably the alternator belt, might just be something in the new
clutch. It's been raining or snowing, so I haven't got round to
looking. Shortly after I set off this morning, the noise stopped.
Timing Light02 Feb 2008 10:35 GMT20
My old timing light has finally bit the dust after being dropped. I fancy
one that measures the advance at particular revs, and has inductive
coupling. They seem to vary a lot in price, though. Any recommendations
for an accurate one that doesn't cost the earth - and a supplier?
1275 "A"+ Series01 Feb 2008 09:02 GMT12
I have a Ledbury Maestro with an "A"+ 1275 engine.  When it has been left
sitting for more than a day or two it is very "three cylindery" for a good
number of miles.  Up to about 50 miles of my usual DC and motorway driving
is usually needed to get rid of the problem completely.  ...
