Spray paint speed camera lenses?07 Mar 2004 23:06 GMT17
Is it possible simply to get a can of spray paint and spray the lens
of a Gatso to render it useless?  Of course no one should do it as is
probably illegal, but does seem a very easy simple way, rather than
pulling it down!
Indicator cameras?07 Mar 2004 23:04 GMT28
If HMG were serious about road safety they'd set up 'Indicator Cams' instead
of speed cams.  I've just returned from a seven minute drive from my local
market (Chrisp Street, Poplar) and within the space of half a mile
encountered:-
Reversing into a parking bay07 Mar 2004 21:33 GMT28
I know this is going to sound stupid, but I have problems doing this
:-(
The problem is that I can't see the white lines.  If there are cars
parked into the spaces next to me then I can park easily.  However

the first time I have seen this.
Soft tops07 Mar 2004 15:02 GMT9
My wife is buying a new car, a soft top. Never having owned a decent
soft top, and I have a couple of questions.
1. Car washes (with the top up <g>). I guess most car washes could
damage the hood, but those contactless types should be OK?

Deceptive signposting on the edge of London's C-charge zone06 Mar 2004 23:32 GMT5
Has anybody else been caught out by or at least noticed this? The
green signpost on the Euston (or is it Marylebone road by that point)
road for the M1 (the north) points straight down Baker Street and into
the C-Zone! Ouch-that'll be five quid please!

Gatso06 Mar 2004 18:00 GMT35
Just what is the problem with the Gatso's?
You will not normally be flashed unless you are 10% above the speed limit in
force, keep to the speed limits, IE do not break the law and they can put as
many Gatso's as they like. Think about it.
Selfish drivers06 Mar 2004 13:14 GMT114
Yes you know who you are.
The drivers who overtake (or attempt to!!) at 56.1mph on roads such as
the two-lane M11 going past Stansted up past Cambridge, despite
causing massive queues behind them. Even attempting to overtake going
The *Real* Highway code06 Mar 2004 09:45 GMT43
1. A right-lane closure is just a game to see how many people can cut
in line by passing you on the right as you sit in the left lane
waiting for the same drivers to squeeze their way back in before
hitting the road works barriers.
The Uninsured....06 Mar 2004 01:25 GMT9
I was in the Sheriff Court one day last week (dunno what the
English/Welsh/Irish equivalent is), just sitting in the public gallery
watching the cases go by and listening to the bullshit being trotted out by
the various defence solicitors. Anyway, one case was where a guy of 19 (of
Another Government Whitewash - All speed cameras are correctly sited05 Mar 2004 22:31 GMT6
A nationwide review of the positioning of speed cameras has shown they are
all in the right place, the Government said.
Today the Department for Transport (DfT) said it had heard back from all
areas and it was satisfied the cameras were in the right places.
