Scary Experience30 Apr 2004 23:16 GMT28
Whilst driving home tonight, I had an experience that I would not like to
repeat.
On the A10 (single carriageway), heading north toward Ely, there was a
truck, followed by 4 cars, and then me - all driving at about 50mph.

Speeding fine at PO29 Apr 2004 16:48 GMT6
If you get a Gatso ticket you get points, right?
So am I right in saying there is no way it can be processed at a
post office?
Traffic Cops BBC129 Apr 2004 14:26 GMT63
How come the result of driving without insurance, stealing cars
on the pikey site, and drunk no insurance, no helmets on the
moped and all the other cases, they get about a £90 fine.
Makes paying insurance, tax and taking a driving test
F1 on M129 Apr 2004 13:30 GMT18
Loads of frustrated F1 wannabees on the M1 today - all those BMWs/Audis/Alfas must be seriously underpowered if they need a 'tow' to overtake on an almost empty carriageway!
What would you do ?29 Apr 2004 12:18 GMT42
Driving along A638 between Doncaster and Bawtry, wide (ish) single
carriageway road, NSL, just accelerating out from traffic lights and notice
a pigeon up ahead. Pigeon starts to walk across road, I tell wife I've seen
it and it'll fly away .. and if it doesn't it'd be OK as we're ...
How slow?29 Apr 2004 11:41 GMT67
I have a query about the highway code, which has confused me.  It's
rule 131 about traffic calming.  Part of it says,
"When you approach these features reduce your speed."
I've never been taught to do this and I certainly don't normally do
SKODA CARS29 Apr 2004 10:18 GMT4
Does anybody know of a newsgroup for Skoda Cars, please ??
Colin.
Magnetic hazards?29 Apr 2004 07:27 GMT180
Has anybody ever been near a school at about 8:45?  I go past one on
the way to work every day and it's a nightmare.  For some strange
reason the parents always have to park in dangerous places.  It is
really weird, and what makes it worse is that there are usually some
MPG mystery29 Apr 2004 00:26 GMT29
Whilst in an Audi A6 last night I noticed that at 0mph, the car's fuel
computer indicated 101.0mpg.  How does it work that out then?
Given such economy, I think that I will start to travel at 0mph more often
if I can cover 101 miles using just 1 gallon.  Unless I am in a hurry, of
Another question about the Highway code28 Apr 2004 21:44 GMT14
OK there's another thing in the highway code which a may not fully
understand.  It's junctions controlled by traffic lights, it relates
to rules 150 and 151 in the highway code.
The question is, what is the difference between 'normal' traffic light
Fogs28 Apr 2004 10:04 GMT73
My son took his first driving lesson a few days ago and we got into a
discussion about anticipation and observation. I was trying to get across
to him how small clues can help him with a driving plan. We talked about
excessive fog light users.
Age restriction on motorways27 Apr 2004 22:32 GMT82
Having been down the M6 today I am convinced that we need to ban
anyone over the age of 70 from driving on motorways. Car doing 60 in
lane 2, completely oblivious to anything going on around them, sat an
inch behind the wheel peering over it with a fixed gaze......
What would I have gotten away with?27 Apr 2004 14:18 GMT20
Last night whilst driving home with one of my friends, I noticed that we
were being followed by a Mondeo Estate. The bloke followed us on a rather
serpentine route back to the main road, and we then turned up a cul de sac
(bugger) which he eventually followed us up. The bloke got ...
benefit of zetec27 Apr 2004 10:40 GMT25
I'm looking at getting a Focus. I know the different levels of trim and the
benefits of each. But what's the point of the Zetec range. Apart from the
add on's (alloys etc) the engine is Zetec, but what's different about a
Zetec engine compared to a regular Ford Focus engine?
