Speed Cameras dispersing accidents26 Jun 2005 22:56 GMT199
A report in the paper today says that while fatal accidents have reduced at
camera sites, they have increased on other roads. This has been pounced on
by Safespeed as evidence that they should be scrapped.
Surely if the evidence shows that accidents have fallen where there are
Lorry overtaking ban -Interesting observation.26 Jun 2005 22:20 GMT10
Did my first night run for a while last night. Coming back up the M1,
they close it from 3 lanes to 1 a mile north of J29. As I approached
the 2 mile marker, all the lorries had moved into L1 and were slowing
down. As the motorway bent round to the right and approached the dip,

who is it that has the website with the diary of that long run to Russia?
The one where he lit fires under his diesel tanks to 'de-wax' them or
summat? I found it fascinating and want to show my gf's Dad. He's a trucker,

Hornblower!26 Jun 2005 15:05 GMT61
Spotted well turned out vintage AJS motorbike yesterday, rider waiting
to join a roundabout in L2 as I slowly passing him in L1.
Firmly attached to the centre stand was a long length of oily rag, in
danger of getting caught up on the back wheel and perhaps dismounting
Why people Fail the IAM Test26 Jun 2005 14:49 GMT178
Just stumbled across this on another forum. It indicates that whatever
Roadcraft says, or doesn't say, gear changing whilst braking is
penalised in the test, as is changing down with a relaxed accelerator.

Best route Durham to London?26 Jun 2005 14:42 GMT63
Tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon I need to drive from Durham to London, leaving
about 13:30.  I see three obvious possibilities:
1. A1 all the way.
2. A1, M18, M1.
HGV blocks road26 Jun 2005 14:41 GMT126
Walked home last night and saw a police car at the end of my road with
blues flashing. My road joins a fairly busy road at a T junction. The
tractor unit (no trailor) had parked on the main road exactly opposite my
road.

Newsgroup abuse.26 Jun 2005 13:50 GMT105
The subscribers to this newsgroup may well be aware of a problem that
has affected several UK groups over recent months. These groups have
been subjected to huge amounts of extremely abusive trolling plus
pointless cross posting - and the problem is spreading; it may only be
Reading whilst driving!26 Jun 2005 12:05 GMT14
Out for a bit of a run on the bike, I was behind a little car in
traffic this evening which was occupied by two women in the front. On a
motorbike you are relatively high compared to a car, hence can get
quite a good view down into them.

Dangerous Driving Cameras24 Jun 2005 19:04 GMT37
Hmm. A thought.
Replace all the speed cameras with webcam-like live cams feeding back to a
control centre which holds a few days worth of videos.

Death Info on the road?24 Jun 2005 18:49 GMT9
While I was in London I was on a road - I think it was Bound Green road -
they had a sign up saying 16 people had been killed or injured from 2001 -
2003 (plus it has a few speed cameras)
Is this a worthwhile idea? I was quite surprised infact as the section of
