A new Highway Code21 Jul 2005 04:17 GMT36
What would you put in?
Here's two important rules to start:
1. You MUST give way to faster traffic.
2. You MUST keep left except when overtaking.
Stopping on the hard shoulder20 Jul 2005 12:41 GMT18
Should only be done in an emergency, yes. Does putting your roof up when
it's raining count? About 10 cars at the southern end of the M1 thought so
the other day when it suddenly started to piss down...

Max bend speeds 19 Jul 2005 19:01 GMT66
Drove through some this afternoon.
Why do councils? whoever, put such low speeds on some bends?
Near where I live there's a section of DC, separated fom the opposite lane
by trees. Has a series of bends in it. Before the signs went up I found them
Just how daft can you get?19 Jul 2005 18:27 GMT11
NSL SC heading out from a small village on the bike, with the road into
the village completely choked with standing nose to tail cars coming
back from the coast.
My side of the road was completely clear of vehicles - until I rounded
ID re Speed Camera19 Jul 2005 10:52 GMT62
I heard in the news a couple of years ago about a driver who challenged
a speed camera summons by claiming that for him to be forced to
identify the driver was an infringement of his human rights.
Does anyone recall this and most important recall the outcome please?
Used Car Valuation19 Jul 2005 09:01 GMT2
I need the valuation of a used car for probate.  I just went to the
Glass's web site and fed £2.95 into the screen but was never shown the
result.  I suspect a browser incompatibility.  Anyway I sent them an email
to demand my valuation, but in the mean time, can anyone else help me ...
Paul Smith of Safe Speed19 Jul 2005 00:37 GMT175
I met him at our IAM group meeting last night. Very interesting. It was
certainly the most interesting meeting I've been to in a long time. The
predicted riot didn't materialise and it seemed the vast majority of
those present were in agreement with what he was saying.
Optimax - my opinion18 Jul 2005 19:08 GMT47
I've been using Optimax recently, and have consistantly averaged 44mpg
over 3 fillups (44.1mpg, 44.2mpg, 43.9mpg).  This week I changed back
to 'normal' petrol.  I don't know about the economy yet, and people
like the Dervman will always argue that I didn't do the test for long
Speed Camera Strategy - My Observations18 Jul 2005 15:22 GMT8
In my opinion the current trend of using "fixed" speed cameras in
accident blackspot locations does not necessarily lead to safer
driving.  I have observed that such speed cameras lead to hard braking
with vehicles slowing down significantly to pass as they approach the
Swindon to Cambridge Route on Friday Rush Hour?18 Jul 2005 14:06 GMT14
Swindon to Cambridge Route on Friday Rush Hour?
I need to get from Swindon to Cambridge during the Friday rush hour.
The normal route here would be M4, M25, M11, a journey of about 2 hours
45 minutes, but I will be leaving Swindon at 4 p.m. and  I notice that
Wow we have police round here who aren't checking speed18 Jul 2005 00:10 GMT21
Today they were putting tickets on all the cars who were parked on the
pavement.
Vandal's ID17 Jul 2005 20:01 GMT7
I recently had my rear screen smashed by a guy who claimed I was
reversing into him whilst parking. The fact that the Police carted him
off for criminal damage without even asking me for any documents tells
us who they believed.
Another 'was it me'17 Jul 2005 18:02 GMT26
I'm in the nearside lane of a NSL two lane dual carraigeway approaching an
off slip road.
The two cars in front of me start to slow (a shade more than neccessary) to
leave the DC. I'm happy where I am in lane one and slow down behind them.
LPG - FAQ anywhere?17 Jul 2005 00:44 GMT1
I've about £10k to spend on a new motor and want to investigate dual
fuel and turbo-diesel.
Any opinions and sites worth reading gratefully received.
