THINK! Use Your Headlights31 Aug 2005 21:26 GMT21
THINK! Use Your Headlights - this is what should be displayed on the
Motorway Information signs. At least until the headlights are switched
on of some idiot who decides to drive at 40mph or above with only
parking lights on!
periscope overtaking mirror for continental driving31 Aug 2005 20:11 GMT6
I remember seeing a device advertised several years ago which operated on
the periscope principle and which enabled the driver of a RHD car to see
ahead when driving on the Continent.  Does anyone have any information about
this or similar device on sale at the present time.
Laugh or Cry: You Decide31 Aug 2005 19:37 GMT46
As seen in Lincolnshire (Snarford to be precise) today:
Single-track road with lots of bends; little verge before high grass/hedge;
NSL applies.  Difficult to see what's coming, hence more than 40mph is
approaching recklessness.
New driving phenomenon31 Aug 2005 16:13 GMT83
When wanting to turn right, after entering a long DC from another junction,
why do drivers insist on getting into the right hand lane immediately?
This is becoming more prevelent around my way. It doesn't matter if the
distance between the junctions is a mile, drivers want to get ...
IAM drives31 Aug 2005 11:29 GMT12
I've had two sessions with my observer so far.  The first was an
assessment, and the 2nd was a 'proper' observed drive.  For some reason
I've been driving worse than usual on the drive.  Towards the end I
started doing better though.  My observer said that I was skipping
Tacho question31 Aug 2005 09:41 GMT8
Since we've been talking about tachos in another thread, here's a question.
I asked it once a couple of years ago and didn't really get a definitive
answer so:
If a HGV has 'Not for hire or reward' printed on the side (because it isn't
Advice needed, re: Speeding ticket...31 Aug 2005 08:13 GMT82
Evening all,
Suppose your girlfriend gets another speeding ticket, and the three points
she will earn mean she has to retake her test.
Now suppose her boyfriend agrees to say he was driving at the time, and will
crossing the road30 Aug 2005 21:23 GMT1
Had to visit west London today (Friday) and while driving through a busy
shopping street heard some two tones which turned out to be Mr Plod in  a
Transit.
Still people scurried across a light controlled pedestrain crossing instead
"Dangerous Roads"30 Aug 2005 19:15 GMT397
Should we cross-post to alt.usage.english?
Old bloke driving30 Aug 2005 15:13 GMT10
Saw one today, and he was almost hitting the limitter just after
starting the engine.  He then reversed back, and drove out of the car
park etc. (I didn't watch this bit.  I walked further, and then a few
moments I see this car driving past me at around 30mph (it's 30mph
Breakdown cover29 Aug 2005 18:05 GMT9
All,
I'm about to buy my own car for the first time in several years
(combination of being out of the country and having a company car). I'm
looking at breakdown cover, and things seem to have changed radically
NIP arrived.29 Aug 2005 14:34 GMT2327
So, the NIP arrived over the weekend - 58 in a 50, on a dual carriageway at
0:40 on a completely empty road.
The road has a 70mph limit but I decided to do 60mph as I was a little
tired. Four junctions are protected by 50mph limits, three of which I
Testing....Testing...29 Aug 2005 13:09 GMT2

I just wanted to ask if you think that smartnav
(http://www.smartnav.com/) which costs pretty much (£800) worths
money? Does anyone have experience? Is it more accurate than other
systems? Thank you in advance for your help.
