i'm weighing up buying 2nd hand at the moment.
skoda superb 1.9TDI 130 vs MG ZT CDTI.  am aware skoda probably slightly
more sensible and chippable, but v tempted by last chance to own a
"british" car and the ZT's i've seen do look pretty nice.
hazard perception test hints08 Dec 2005 22:04 GMT18
I have my theory test on Tuesday, and need lots of help with the
perception test.
I can consistently get 35/35 on the mock tests on the multiple choice
so aren't worried about that, but from cold I've *never* passed a mock

My first drive with RoADA08 Dec 2005 14:02 GMT62
Had my first drive with RoADA on Sunday morning. I will keep you posted
of my progress, and my thoughts on how the training is different to the
IAM.  First run was an hour where the observer wanted me to drive as I
normally do, so she could assess my current level.
Speed Camera detector Question07 Dec 2005 19:24 GMT2
I'm thinking of buying a speed camera detector. These come in either radar
detector or GPS types. My questions are about the GPS ones. These depend on
loading a database of known fixed speed camera locations into the device.
I'm trying to get a feel for how comprehensive and ...
Peoples Thoughts About The IAM07 Dec 2005 16:55 GMT55
I've just read this :

A police force will be wearing the IAM logo.
Here are some quotes, that people may find interesting!

Driving in India07 Dec 2005 09:35 GMT23
Holy Mother of God.  I've just returned from a trip to Goa, where I had the
the unfortunate experience of several taxi rides in what looks like a
converted Bedford Rascal, along dirt-roads without tarmac, with pot-holes of
about 2 feet depth, with the driver trying to avoid dogs, ...
Driving in Germany07 Dec 2005 00:36 GMT36
Hi group,
I'm about to go to Germany (Stuttgart) for the weekend and have hired
myself a car.
Stupid question, but I wanted to ask if anybody knew of any important
Views on Winter Tyres06 Dec 2005 16:07 GMT9
I'd appreciate your views on winter tyres. I understand that they are
designed so that their threads do not harden at temperatures below 7 C,
thereby improving grip and reducing braking distances. On the other
hand, summer tyres are optimised for temperatures up to 30 C.
Shopping Centre06 Dec 2005 15:52 GMT7
Near to me are two shopping centres with huge stores but with inadequate
road systems feeding the car parks. Traffic gets backed up onto the "A" road
and grid-locks a roundabout. The Highway Agency wasn't able to deal with my
complaint as it related to a private road. Surely it ...
Right hand screwy drivers06 Dec 2005 13:43 GMT50
Why is it some drivers think the RH lane is somehow a default place to be?
Going into town yesterday in my low-power-machine, I kept in the LH lane and
pulled up at a red light. It was a 2 lane approach and a woman in a 4x4
naturally pulled up on my right! (So far so good). Lights ...
Lights in fog06 Dec 2005 09:43 GMT68
Did a twenty mile round trip this morning. It was foggy - not 'dense' fog -
but visibility was definitely limited and you could see the headlamps of
on-coming cars long before you could see the car itself. I would say 50 mph
was the maximum safe speed bearing in mind the reduced ...

Help Please05 Dec 2005 20:03 GMT22
I live in south west Cornwall and I am looking for a club or a business that
could teach me defensive driving.
I have been driving since 1957 and have had few accidents but I am finding a
different type motorist on the road today
