Friday heading north on M9 at the Newbridge roundabout. I'd joined the M9
from the M8 eastbound. Roadworks were about to take place to the motorway

lane one was now lane two) There were signs up ...
Will you be stopped or sent a letter?13 Feb 2006 08:15 GMT45
If you are clocked by the Police pointing some sort of speed gun , if you
are speeding at the time would he chase after you/motion for you to stop? Or
would you just get a fixed penalty/NIP in the post?
What sort of speed would warrant a pull or a NIP in a 30mph downhill

Any traffic update sites ?12 Feb 2006 18:50 GMT11
Does anyone know of any good traffic update sites, mainly for
Staffordshire/West Mids.
As I usually get the traffic reports via the radio in the car just as I have
stopped in the middle of the congestion, would be nice to know before hand

What is it with middle age Londoners that they feel the need to drive around
in unsuitable vehicles? Has the 4x4 become the "new Porsche"? Or are they
all quite simply tossers?

Mobile Phone Idiot12 Feb 2006 11:01 GMT5
I really couldn't believe how dangerous this driver was.  He decided to
take a phone call on a twisty NSL road, just after a very dangerous
bend, but that's not it, it's a lot worse than that...
He decided he would partially drive into a driveway, at a right angle.
Interesting blue lit cameras at M621 Junction 5 (N) into Leeds - What are they?12 Feb 2006 10:47 GMT3
I notice that there are a number of forward facing devices (not sure if
they are cameras) on the gantry near J5 of the M621 motorway into
Leeds.  The interesting thing is that at night they are illuminated by
a very blue light (although the motorway is lit at this point).  I was
Cutting Up -Why?11 Feb 2006 17:53 GMT115
Here's is an interesting experiment that you could try.  Find a quiet
road with multiple lanes in your direction, and do a slightly slow
speed (eg. 10mph less than the speed limit) along it.  How many people
will cut in front of you missing you by just a few inches?

Well...I came back the same way yesterday on the M9 with traffic *merging*
from the A8 slip road (coned down to one lane and plenty signage) to the M9.
If I ever wanted proof that car drivers are a danger to themselves and
others I got it yesterday for sure. I was on the hard ...
Seen on the A1(M) - M18 junction on 06/02/06 around 09:0011 Feb 2006 16:32 GMT20
An articulated lorry that had probably missed the M18 exit road was
reversing along the hard shoulder back towards the left hand exit to
the M18.  Traffic was streaming by onto the M18.  This looked pretty
dangerous to me as the lorry was reversing into the chevrons between

Speed limit changes - how?11 Feb 2006 13:54 GMT7
Firstly - PLEASE, don't turn this into a(nother) speed debate.
I've noticed that many of the speed limits local to me have been changed
over the past year or so - mostly downwards. A typical example would be a
stretch of 'B' road between two towns would change from 30-50-30 to
