I was at the chip shop earlier tonight and it has its own parking car park which is a one way with the entrance having a no entry sign on it. A car decided to go through the no entry and cut back onto the road. I was standing in the chip shop waiting for my haddocks chips and ...

Has any car mag published a comparison of sat nav systems? Is there a consensus as to which ones are better? I'm specifically interested in TomTom as I know it works both in Europe and the USA (do others?)

I believe these work by directing laser at the number plate. So how would they "catch" our Alfa 156, where the number plate is on the side? Surely by the time I've seen the van, I brake hard, during which time it has

Anyone know if it's free and not too difficult on a Sunday afternoon? 5 of us which makes PT less attractive, cost wise.

Next time white van man pulls out of a junction too late, causing you to have to brake, just beep your horn to express your displeasure at his/her lack of consideration. Result: (s)he will drive through the rest of the village in front of

Nine points on his licence and he pulls two more speeding offences, 57 in a 40 limit, 63 in a 50 limit. He got a £800 fine, less than I've seen reported for people committing lesser speeding offences. Then he comes up with some hypocritical bollocks:

| Undertaking Cyclists | 28 Apr 2006 20:02 GMT | 227 |
Is it supposed to be bad practice for cyclists to pass on the inside? Most of them seem to do it in slow moving traffic, but it seems dangerous to me. There are cyclists on the inside, and quite often motorcyclists on the other side. It makes slow moving traffic

Ford have been testing their Escape hybrid in various cities in the US as a taxi - it's worked well for local route use, saving cabbies quite a bit and running 100,000 miles without serious maintenance issues, including batteries.

| Silly speed limits | 27 Apr 2006 00:20 GMT | 140 |
I recently had to go to Stansted airport. Traffic was very quite, as I took the exit from the M25 (from the west) to the M11 North. As I took the sliproad at the junction, I continued at an apparently slow 80, onto a very long curve onto the M11. It seemed quite obvious that the ...

| Roadsign shapes | 26 Apr 2006 23:59 GMT | 27 |
Following on from posts in the 'Silly speed limit' thread, I was just thinking about why stop signs and give-way signs have a unique shape. As they're obviously orders they should logically be round, but they don't. Just idle curiosity, but anyone know why?
