What are the lines and boxes?31 May 2006 19:22 GMT8
I've recently noticed (although they've probably been there for ages) pairs
of rectangular lines like vehicle sensors in the road, often with grey boxes
at the side of the road. There seems to be loads of them (all roads, every
few miles) around here, like traffic light sensors ...
Letting 999 vehicles pass31 May 2006 17:07 GMT82
I always thought I was doing it correctly, I would cautiously move out

A friend of mine has only been driving for a short time and lacks
confidence. Her particular problem is joining motorways.

she's going at the same speed as the traffic on the motorway,  then she

Reversing round a corner30 May 2006 21:47 GMT10
I'm teaching someone to reverse round a corner. They are relatively short
and get a very bad view of the kerb (i.e. none whatsoever). Is it
permissible on the test:
(a) To use your left hand mirror pointed down to see the kerb
Driving without a licence30 May 2006 20:29 GMT17
My mate is currently driving without a licence and no matter how much we nag
him he just doesn't seem to get round to taking his test. Clearly one of
these days he his going to get caught out - either by the plod or having a
bang.
Why "Honest John" is a tosser30 May 2006 16:03 GMT48
From the Telegraph Motoring section 27th May:
"I bought a Fiat Panda in December and it recently saved my life... when
pulled into the path of a large 4x4. Only when I saw my engine rolling down
the road like tumbleweed did I realise that the front of my car had been

Oh dear, TomTom.28 May 2006 21:34 GMT168
Had to drop the wife off near Hitchin today, so used the TomTom. It turns us
into a farm, where the farmer gets out the tractor and says, "TomTom or is
it a NavMan sir? A huge lorry with a TomTom tried to plow my field up last
week"!
Navman ICN 52028 May 2006 20:04 GMT9

Mondeo Battery Mystery28 May 2006 12:28 GMT6
Further to my earlier posting regarding the Calcium/Silver Battery on
my Mondeo I have a mystery.
On inspecting the battery before last weeks holiday I found the little
window in the top showing red not green, I presumed a dodgy battery.
