| Greenpeace War on 4x4s | 19 Oct 2006 18:40 GMT | 11 |
Greenpeace's new ad has 4x4s in its sights but like the reviewer I think this is mean spirited http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?menuID=2&subID=999 If I had a 4x4 this doesnt inform me - it just calls me names

A mate of mine driving a wagon, stops at traffic lights...handbrake on and out of gear. He slips the seatbelt off his right shoulder to reach across his cab (this action takes a couple of seconds), he is seen by a trafpol, pulled over and given a ticket for incorrect use of

| Ditch your safe car for a risky car says government | 18 Oct 2006 13:39 GMT | 61 |
Well. There is a 1 in 10,000 chance of getting killed in a 4WD as opposed to a 1 in 200 jchance in a jelly mould. Yet the governments want us to drive jelly moulds forgetting the true eventual cost of death on the public purse.

| Mercedes A-class space safer spare | 18 Oct 2006 13:35 GMT | 12 |
Whilst browsing for something I came across this howler - "The brakes of my daughter's 2001 Mercedes A-class failed spectacularly and caused her to take evasive action to avoid an oncoming HGV. If you have a flat tyre and change to the spare, it is

| woman, phone and city centre hold up, | 18 Oct 2006 12:47 GMT | 7 |
Narrow one way street, just wide enough for vehicles to get through and there was a hold up for some reason - a delay of about five minutes until the traffic started moving. Little silver grey car four ahead, driven by a female, doesn't move and

| All Coppers Are... | 17 Oct 2006 17:27 GMT | 2 |
Nowhere to been seen anymore. I remember listening to the London Oscar channels (traffic) in the 70's/80's when they used to be on about 100MHz and they used to pull up hundreds, every evening. Its interesting listening now . There is rarely a vehicle check happening.

| Reversing an artic... | 17 Oct 2006 15:28 GMT | 116 |
There's an Argos close by on a main road. Their loading bay is down the side, and the alleyway quite narrow. It's next door to a small Tesco's with filling station which I use quite frequently, and have often seen trucks backing in there, and marvelled at the driver's skills - as ...

| Classic lesson | 17 Oct 2006 15:05 GMT | 88 |
I had just given a briefing to a student on what to do when meeting oncoming traffic, when there is a parked vehicle on the left. I explained we give priority, stopping in the "holdback" position, three car lengths from the hazzard and just to the left of road center.

| Guess the marque... | 17 Oct 2006 14:59 GMT | 32 |
So there I am, driving from Lochmaben to Lockerbie at 7am today. There are two transit vans ahead of me. It's a nice clear, straight bit of road, so I pull out to overtake them. Nothing hairy: I'm doing 60 and they are doing about 45, so I am making reasonable progress past them.

| Accident claim? | 17 Oct 2006 14:58 GMT | 2 |
Not usually becoming involved with accidents too often, I lack the experience to give valid advice... The local water authority has being rather busy of late digging up paths and roads in the area. At one particularly hazardous T junction

| Top Gear Women | 17 Oct 2006 14:57 GMT | 30 |
While watching a Top Gear clip just I noticed the audience was about 1/3 women. How come this group is pretty much 100% male then? (Not counting Conor, obviously)

| Power Steering | 17 Oct 2006 14:56 GMT | 23 |
Bearing in mind that one driver's 'over-assisted' steering may be another driver's 'too heavy' steering, is it beyond the means of the car manufacturers to offer adjustable power steering so that the owner can adjust the degree of steering assistance to suit his/her own personal
