Insurance - being "forced" to opt for their renewal price.08 Oct 2006 18:03 GMT36
I got a renewal quote through from my insurance company (Quoteline
Direct) a few weeks ago, for something like £450.
Did my shopping around thang, and managed to get a quote for £297,
again from Quoteline Direct. The next lowest price I got was £350 from
Whoops!08 Oct 2006 10:19 GMT2
8 am today, M53 towards Chester between junctions 6 and 7 (close to
the Vauxhall plant)...a 3/4 car shunt just after the very fit looking
girl stood on the hardshoulder near to her broken down car!

Should pedestrians be banned from using mobile phones too?06 Oct 2006 23:54 GMT11
Was stopped at a set of lights nearby that I know well today. A young
mother with pushchair was on the pavement by the crossing using a mobile
phone. The pedestrian phase came and went - followed by the green for my
route. Just as 'my' amber changed to green she decided to cross -

quinn direct insurance06 Oct 2006 23:23 GMT17
I have been looking around for car insurance and found a insurer called
quinn direct, they seem to be quoting me about £250 less than a exact quote
from my usual insurance company. Just wondering if they are crap or
something.

Breakdown cover06 Oct 2006 20:07 GMT48
What breakdown cover is everyone on? I'm on the minimum "roadside" cover
with RAC. I broke down the other day, he fixed it right there but the RAC
guy said I should upgrade to "recovery". I think this is because if my car
had to be towed it could only be within 10 miles, and if I ...
Good News - UK Road safety improving - now safer than ever06 Oct 2006 15:53 GMT141
Some good news for a change.  Recent statistics that UK road injuries
and deaths fell last year continuing year on year falls.  Although
there are concerns about the exact accuracy of the figures the overall
trend is good.
People who drive slow05 Oct 2006 23:28 GMT89
Why aren't they banned from the road?
I quite rightly got a major on my first driving test for doing thirty into
a sixty zone.
Now I see people doing thirty down a sixty and holding up a long queue
Using my mobile in a filling station.05 Oct 2006 11:57 GMT138
I went to answer my mobile while at a petrol station and got a blast
from the office telling me to switch it off pronto.  I was at least 10
metres from a petrol pump.
Why did it cause such a problem?  I feel sure if I had been a

Insurance04 Oct 2006 12:34 GMT2
How odd, I just made an enquiry about insuring a group 20 car. I was quoted
£500 fully comprehensive. The insurer also, for reasons of their own,
quoted for TPFT. That quote was for £1500.
How the heck do they get around to that state of affairs?
Car rental for European driving04 Oct 2006 08:51 GMT4
My local car rental place will rent me a car for driving in Europe but
they put a premium on for this (about £100 for a week).  Does anyone
know if the biggies (Herz, Budget etc) do the same, or can I rent at a
standard price wherever I take the car?
