Funniest "Info-sign" moment.09 Aug 2007 15:12 GMT9
Talking about info signs giving the wrong info, what's the funniest
thing you've seen as a result?
Mine was on the A488 south of Shrewsbury. I triggered the "Low Bridge,
Turn Around" warning sign. There's a gap of about 200 metres between

On the opposite side of the road facing towards me were two Sprinter vans,
on fully on the verge and one partly still on the road slightly behind the
first.
As I got closer it was obvious that the one partly on the road had a
FS TomTom Go 30007 Aug 2007 23:40 GMT3
Just in case anyone is interested, I have a TomTom Go 300 Satnav for sale
on Ebay. It's in first class condition with box and, as well as all the
standard stuff, I've bought an additional map for France and major routes
of Western Europe and I'm including it on a 1GB SD card.

My licence covers category F, do I need to obtain category H to take the
tractor on the road if my tractor is propelled and steered by its
tracks?
If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to take a
European SatNav07 Aug 2007 20:50 GMT39
I'm going to Spain on holiday and I want to rent a car so I'd like SatNav
with me. My current SatNav does a good job but it covers the UK only.
What's the best SatNav that works out of the box in Europe?
What's the cheapest way to own one?  I don't want to fork out £300 for

Salisbury traffic05 Aug 2007 22:25 GMT9
I'm trying to get to west Dorset (Charmouth) on Saturday. Traffic
wise, would the route past the Wallops, Salisbury and out onto the
A354 be passable? Not that the alternative of the A303 on a summer
holiday Saturday strikes the fear of god into me (even knowing a few

I came across another illuminated roadside sign yesterday, which
flashed with the words "SLOW DOWN" when I approached.  I was not
speeding.  I slowed down but the sign still glowed.  I slowed down
even more.  The sign still illuminated.  If a police car had been
dangerous driving05 Aug 2007 16:06 GMT14
I had rocks dropped on to my cab by three 'hoodies' standing on a
footway over bridge yesterday, a bit disconcerting at 56mph even if you
do see it coming, called plod, disintrested, had I stopped and leathered
the little bastards I probably would have been nicked, even though ...

Falling car running expenses put the brakes on cost of motoring
A fall in the day-to-day expenses of running a car has slowed the
overall total cost of motoring in the UK.  RAC Direct Insurance's
Driving from Glasgow to Alton Towers03 Aug 2007 19:46 GMT17
I'm planning on a trip to Alton Towers theme park in a week and was
wondering if someone could advise me on routes and travelling times.
Google maps tells me it takes about 4 1/2 hours going down the M74/M6
and I was wondering whether this is realistic.  I'd be leaving early
Artic over the Berwyns03 Aug 2007 17:59 GMT1
Yesterday afternoon, driving from Bala to Llangynog (B4391) over the
Berwyns, was half way down the final stretch to LLangynog, went round
a bend and met a 10-wheel 40ft artic on the way up! This is a mountain
road with three hair-pin bends, you rarely see anything bigger than
