Just seen on the news about the two lads 6 & 7 years old, being killed
whilst crossing the M56 near Preston, a tragedy for the boys, parents
and the motorists who hit them all of whom will have to live with it for
the rest of their life.

Corner cutting28 Oct 2007 10:52 GMT20
Isn't it annoying when you aim your car to a give-way line - over to the
centre-line in anticipation of making a right turn - only to nearly be hit
by someone turning right into your road but had set up their car to cut the
corner as when they 'aimed' there was no car there.

Why the UK has the worst transport system in the Western world - and how to fix it26 Oct 2007 23:20 GMT3
There is an important truth to transport that many people ignore:
Transport is all about urban planning. In fact, urban planning is more
crucial for a well-functioning transport system than the choice of
transport modes themselves.

As our motorways become more and more congested, ways to increase capacity
are being considered. The trial of using the hard shoulder on the M42 seems
to have been a success.
However, a huge amount of capacity is being lost due to drivers hogging the
Hard shoulder scheme rolled out25 Oct 2007 19:58 GMT22

Funny isn't it, for years the police have been telling us on TV programs
such as Road Wars how dangerous it is to drive on the hard shoulder, now,
all of a sudden it's the safe thing to do.
Motorway situation - what would you have done?25 Oct 2007 17:31 GMT110
Southbound on the M5 yesterday afternoon, I was doing a steady 75, and
pulled out from lane 2 into lane 3 to pass a slower moving car, which
was doing about 70.  There was traffic in lane 1, and lane 3 was clear
at that time.  As I got about a car length ahead, the car in lane two
Illegally parked Maserati. Impatient forklift driver. What happens next?25 Oct 2007 13:42 GMT18
This is an interesting one...
Apparently some mildly famous woman left her car parked blocking some
building works when she shouldn't have.
An impatient forklift driver moved it for her.

I noticed that the Severn Bridge crossing is £5:10 for a car.
Compare with this:
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is the world's longest cable-stayed concrete
bridge, with a length of 29,040 feet (exactly 5.5 miles or approximately
A303 Winterboure Stoke25 Oct 2007 06:51 GMT4
Winterbourne Stoke is the first village you go through on the A303 heading
westbound from Stonehenge.   You go down a hill (NSL) into the village at
the bottom (40 mph) then up the other side to NSL and eventually dual
carriageway.   As one might expect there is a safety camera ...
Anyone know what this car game was called ?24 Oct 2007 16:27 GMT4

had a few buttons for gun fire, missle, bombs etc and the idea was you get
behind somepone and press it.
Sad as it might sound I'm afterone er for the kids of course!
