Icy roads09 Mar 2008 12:41 GMT2

Some drivers haven't got a clue how to drive in icy conditions.
It could be that most of those cars are autos, which may make it a bit
more tricky, but even so.
I think I have seen it all now.09 Mar 2008 04:26 GMT28
Driving in a 40, approaching a Micra doing about 23-25, randomly tapping
the brake I left plenty of space and could see there was no other car in
front as far as could be seen. Weather was clear, although the road was
still damp, fairly straight, well lit and with no parked cars
M1 multi occupancy lane08 Mar 2008 10:56 GMT17
It has just been announced that the under construction M1 4 lane section
between junc. 6 - 10 will not now have the extra lane used for multi
occupancy vehicles only.
It has been deemed that it would create more accidents and camera's are

digital tachograph cards05 Mar 2008 21:52 GMT11
They only last for 5 years...
More government tax.
I was going to get one, but bollox to 38 quid.
Driving an auto05 Mar 2008 16:03 GMT62
Never driven an automatic in my woopy do for me, just been given a automatic
by a friend who dropped it off :). Basically on the gear stick it says
1,2,3,N,P,R,D (not in that order)
I gather when parked you just whack it in P and to drive D and reverse R,
tailing gatin day - over?05 Mar 2008 09:48 GMT38
I thought maybe it was a leap-year thing. Today was tailgated by white
merc van from a Refrigeration Co. He then raced to overtake (my
admittedly small car - but I was going just below 40 in a 40 zone).
From being only a couple of inches behind me (really), he zoomed to
7.5 tonners and motorway outside lane04 Mar 2008 19:55 GMT9
With the recent change in legislation regarding speed limiters on 7.5
tonners, I'd assumed that it was now illegal for a 7.5 tonner
registered after 1/1/05 to use the outside lane of a motorway.
Having done a little research, it appears that this also now applies
Old people grrrr03 Mar 2008 15:17 GMT80
Why do hell do old people think they can park in parent and child bays and
display there disabled badge and it be ok ?
But if I park in a disabled bay all hell would break loose ?
pah. hurry up and perish away.
Need to learn to drive: would using the BSM simulator be worthwhile?03 Mar 2008 12:06 GMT28
I have had previous driving lessons which didn't go too well, the
instructor panicked and would nag a lot (which pisses me off
immensely). Suffice to say it didn't end too well. The major sticking
point for me was changing down gears and slowing down while
Gatso flash (forward facing)03 Mar 2008 10:52 GMT5
On my way home this evening was approaching a green so carried on then all
of a sudden FLASH FLASH camera on the otherside of the road went off,
dazzled me a bit to be honest. First thing I thought hmmm I'm only doing 27
so not me then realised they don't go off in your face if ...
Can anyone id these ominous looking cameras? :)02 Mar 2008 19:05 GMT22
I recently noticed a rack of 6 grey cylindrical cameras has been erected
overlooking the A30 immediately outside Hatton X tube station in West
London.
Given that there are 6 cameras and the highway at that point has 6 lanes in
Low emmision zone?02 Mar 2008 19:05 GMT8
Whilst travelling along the M4 towards London a few days ago, due to the
heavy traffic I got off it at J3, but there was a notice on the motorway
which read, 'Low Emission Zone', what the hell was that all about?
Was the hold up of traffic due to some sort of penalties being ...

Loads of publicity about this. Not.
A 1999 Land Rover Defender Td5 is not compliant, so will have to pay GBP100/day
to drive into London, so it's not as obscure and irrelevant as you might think.
