Drivers CPC30 May 2008 17:01 GMT11
I see the Drivers CPC is going to affect C1 and D drivers as well as C
and D.
As far as I can see it’s going to be quite expensive at 1200 quid for
the full 35 hours.  Add that to the normal cost of learning to drive,
Has anyone noticed driving trends changing with the high price of fuel30 May 2008 11:55 GMT40
I saw a car go past with two horses pulling it along. The driver had one
hand on the steering wheel and one on the whip.
Driver CPC30 May 2008 07:17 GMT1
Seems the Driver CPC covers C1 and D1 as well as C and D.
Not until 2009 though.  I'm still trying to work out when existing license
holders will have to take it.  This is going to add to the cost of becoming
a LGV driver by quite a bit I think.
UK population to rise to 108 million29 May 2008 12:58 GMT78
News that England is poised to become the most crowded nation in
western Europe will come as little surprise to the millions who
already battle their way to work in London and the South East.
Within two years, England will overtake Holland as the most populous
Car detailed29 May 2008 08:33 GMT294
I had some paint overspray on my nearside passenger door, and an accident
with superglue I wanted corrected. Had the car detailed a couple of days
ago. I was considering buying a polisher myself, but decided to get it
professionally done.

I have seen a Conor on a money forum - lorry driver - same Conor?

As this has cropped up here before, my
reactions to personal digital tacho cards
are:
It would be nice if the information about
Ice Cream Vans26 May 2008 01:10 GMT5
Whilst out today I noticed that ice cream vans seem to have (sample of 5) an
average age of 29 years (based on reg plate) No wonder so many are smokey.
Out of curiosity - do they have a special power-takeoff - or is the Mr
Whippy thing electric and they have a bigger alternator?

GATSOs without rulers24 May 2008 23:03 GMT9
The A505 in Herts has had its GATSO cameras repositioned recently in
the Royston/Baldock area.  But not all the new camera positions have
rulers on the carriageway.  In fact the camera (now removed) that was
previously at the eastern end of the Baldock bypass never had a ruler
Driving in central London for the first time24 May 2008 10:51 GMT12
I'll confess.  I have a phobia about driving in busy towns and city
centres with which I'm not familiar.  I always find there's too much
'street furniture' to deal with and I honestly struggle to take it all
in and process it in real time.
My sister23 May 2008 16:19 GMT8
My older sister is going to take her LGV test.
I think as she's now 50, she earns my respect for having a go.
How hard is it now to pass the test - she didn't pass her car test
first time.  I guess the written part is fairly hard?
Why don't you signal?23 May 2008 00:20 GMT31
It's my accurate perception that around 90% of today's motorists *never*
signal their intentions on roundabouts.
In view of that high percentage, it is inevitable that a fair proportion of
those of you reading this e-mail will be amongst those who *never* signal
differential speed limits22 May 2008 17:08 GMT20
I think having a different speed limit for different directions on the same
road can be useful in some locations. Nut, this is just silly and a clear
case of the people erecting the signs being complete dickheads.
