Wrong way round a roundabout!31 Aug 2009 23:33 GMT6
The east going eastern end of the York bypass was at a complete
standstill before lunchtime today, where they are rebuilding the
roundabout and adding extra lanes. Probably some problem where the east
coast road narrows down to a single lane, because the new widened
M6/M6 toll merge confusion31 Aug 2009 12:49 GMT8
About 15 miles north of Birmingham on the M6, lane three branches off
onto a single lane and then joins back about 100 yards later. Just at the
point where the M6 and M6 Toll merge.
I've noticed frequently that some drivers going up this lane suddenly

Police have shut a section of the M5 in Bristol following concerns for
the safety of a man on a motorway bridge.
All northbound lanes on the Avonmouth Bridge have been closed between
The godfather of instruction manuals28 Aug 2009 23:09 GMT100
The first thing I did after buying a car,was to buy the 'Haynes
Instruction Manual' for that particular model.I found them invaluable.
John Haynes started writing these manuals 49 years ago and he's still
going strong today,he runs a publishing company in Somerset.
On-off throttlers28 Aug 2009 21:40 GMT42
Over the years I've experienced (as a passenger) drivers who seem unable to
hold a constant or smoothly changing throttle opening.  Instead, they seem
to use the throttle like a switch, pressing & releasing constantly which
makes for a most unpleasant journey as a passenger.
how dumb?28 Aug 2009 16:20 GMT49
Is this not an indicator that people are becoming more stupid?

Cars with ammeters28 Aug 2009 00:32 GMT38
Why is it that cars of the 1950s, 60s and 70s often used to be fitted with
an ammeter (-30A, 0, +30A) whereas it's very rare to find a car with one
nowadays?
Has there been some improvement in battery-charging technology which has
Rules for traffic lights with a filter light27 Aug 2009 23:10 GMT11
Supposing you have a conventional set of traffic lights with circular red,
amber and green lights, and alongside the green light there is a green arrow
pointing to the right.
If you want to turn right, are you supposed to wait for the green arrow, or
Motorway packs27 Aug 2009 22:12 GMT7
Ever noticed on motorways, that cars seem to bunch together in sort of
packs? Whenever I encounter them,I either accelerate untill I get past
them or pull back untill it goes clear again.
It appears to be a strange phenomina.
Call the paramedics!27 Aug 2009 09:20 GMT10
I've just gagged on cock and I want to go to hospital for a check up.
Vehicle styling.26 Aug 2009 23:46 GMT68
Every now and again a car is put into production that is universally slammed
as ugly and unattractive. A recent example is the new Skoda Superb. Is there
anyone who finds this car attractive?  I certainly don't - and neither do
any of the road testers whose reports I've read.
Slowing down to overtake HGVs26 Aug 2009 20:20 GMT8
Why is it that some people will drive at 70 on a dual carriageway quite
happily but will slow down to little more than the speed of an HGV as they
are overtaking it before accelerating back up to 70 aftwerwards? I've seen
this behaviour a lot on the A34 (two-lane ...
Puncture on the motorway25 Aug 2009 23:38 GMT58
Who would dare change a wheel on the hard shoulder of a motorway?
I might consider it,if it was a nearside wheel and the h/shoulder was
substantially wide enough.

Hypothetical accident question25 Aug 2009 18:01 GMT3
I was driving past a parked taxi the other day when the passenger
opened the door. I was giving it a good enough berth in the first
place that it wasn't a problem, but had I hit the door, who would I
claim off? Is the taxi driver liable for his passengers and I'd claim
