New '95 850 for me! 07 Jun 2004 23:57 GMT2
My old 740 died this past week & I'm having my mechanic look at a '95
850 non-turbo wagon w/ 107K on it. Anything that he should especially
go over with his magnifying glass? We've only had 240s & 740s for many
years, so this is a whole new game for me. Any intro advice for me? I

I am still looking for a good  700 series sedan to replace my old

drowned remote07 Jun 2004 22:10 GMT3
Help!  Volvo 850 GLT Estate locked with remote control.  Alarm and imobilesr
switched on.  Remote control has an accidental swim in seawater and, not
surprisingly, no longer works.  Question: How to get the car going again?
(The local Volvo garage is closed until Monday).
A/C Line Burst While Recharging System - '96 850 GLT Non-Turbo07 Jun 2004 17:28 GMT6
Well, as the subject line says, I started with a can containing 8 1/2
oz. of compressor oil and 2 1/2 oz. of R-134. That went in fine. Then, I
followed up with a normal can of R134 and partially through, I heard a
pop, rushing sound and oil all over the place. (Naturally, this ...
Petrol fumes in '92 94007 Jun 2004 15:13 GMT3
I think that I may have made a mistake here.
Sold my old '85 740 and took the locking petrol cap off to use on my
'92 940 2.3i.  Now when I drive with the windows or sunroof open I get
a strong smell of petrol. The cap seems to fit ok but it is vented, is
740 no auto lube?07 Jun 2004 11:09 GMT1
It's hard to believe, Took my old faithful to the service; new boy, new
overalls. Two weeks after full service I find auto box sticking, loos of
acceleration and labouring in gears. I check the lube to find "zilch" I said
empty not a scrap (not a drop on the stick) of fluid. Now us ...

It is not clear how to get the headlight out of an S80.  There is some
plastic trim below that may have to be removed but I was afraid to try
without advice.

Found a broken wire in tailgate hinge !!!!!!07 Jun 2004 02:41 GMT3
Finally, something obvious !!!! In the driver's side tailgate hinge of
my 1989 245 there is a solid black wire and what appears to be a small
bundle of wires passing through. The solid black wire is completely
severed and I noticed that the high level brake light flickers
Help troubleshooting turn signal flasher unit06 Jun 2004 13:39 GMT5

Key is stuck06 Jun 2004 06:10 GMT2
I have a '99 XC and I can't get the key to turn back all the way in the
ignition so that I can remove it. I tried moving the shifter around but that
didn't release the key. Looking for some advice on what could be wrong.
Thanks,

'01 s60: front suspension noise06 Jun 2004 02:38 GMT7
I've checked the undercarriage of my s60 and found nothing wrong,
it seems very tight. But sometimes when I hit a dip the front end
makes a springy "boing" sound. I suspect it's some electronic
thing dealing with the road (mostly noticeable when I pull into

Volvo Turbo Diesel06 Jun 2004 00:21 GMT1
I have a 1996 1.9 TD 440.
I have noticed recently when I have been driving quite hard that when I
remove my foot from the accelerator there seems to be a boost of power only
for a second or so. You can feel the car lurching forward. I don't know if
