How to tell when you need new brakes?11 Sep 2004 10:33 GMT7
I've got an '86 240dl... The brakes always squeak (they seem to on all
Volvo's I've seen from this era)... How would one tell when new brakes
are needed?

240 Worth It? Opinions Wanted!11 Sep 2004 07:21 GMT75
Okay, here's a question for you, just for your gut feelings, as I know you
haven't seen the car.
If you had a chance to buy a well running 1993 240 wagon with perfect leather
seats, cruise control, good cold AC, perfect body, one owner, all service

Me: Does Volvo NA plan to introduce a diesel Volvo - preferably sedan in the
   future?
Volvo: We build our

what creates P0172, System too Rich (Bank 1) ?11 Sep 2004 00:32 GMT4
I have been trying to track down the source of a P0172 code on my 96
850 with 108K, and have had all of the vacuum lines replaced with no
success.  I am wondering exactly what creates this code...does it come
from both the upstream and downstream O2 sensors?
S-80 fuel10 Sep 2004 22:03 GMT12
I have a 2000 S-80.  The owners manual says that I should use 91 Octane
fuel.  Where I live fuel comes in 87, 89, and 93 Octane strengths.  Should I
continue to use the 93 Octane fuel or will the 89 Octane suffice?
'89 245 fuel prob10 Sep 2004 16:48 GMT4
OK, on July 16th old faithful (276K) would not start after work. Played
with it for a while, then called a wrecker to have it towed to the local
"Foreign Car Specialist".
Yesterday, yes 25 days later, they called and said they had it fixed.
Unavailabilty of Small Replacement Parts from Volvo09 Sep 2004 16:25 GMT10
I noticed that some of the controls on my Volvo radio were not lit from
behind like the others and pulled out the radio to find several tiny light
bulbs.  Volvo tells me that replacement bulbs are not available, but that
they would be happy to sell me a new radio.  The case is ...
850 wipers offf09 Sep 2004 16:20 GMT2
My 94 850 wagon is great.  A minor annoyance: the driver side front
windshield wiper misses a huge area each time it sweeps across.  I changed
the blades, I watched carefully:  it looks like the whole arm is lifting
away from the windshield.  Is this likely a lose mounting ...

Need a part for a 14409 Sep 2004 05:09 GMT8
I spent almost half a day checking for a part for my 1969 Volvo 144.
The car has an automatic shift,
and a part called a 'gear shift ball socket' has disintegrated.  This
part is in the steering column housing where the gear selector handle is
deep cycle batteries: cranking & best-buys09 Sep 2004 03:37 GMT2
my battery does appear to be holding a charge.  i dont think its the
alternator; my `84 240 wagon runs fine when its started, but even
turning it off at the gas station will leave me needing another jump.
i have a heavy duty inverter in my car which is unused, lacking a deep
850 fuel pump assmbly repair09 Sep 2004 03:25 GMT1
Last year I found a large puddle of gas around the passenger rear tire when
I came out from work one day.  I had the car towed in to a dealership.
They replaced the in tank fuel pump assembly.  Now I'm reading about a
recent recall of 850's regarding the bushings for the heat ...
late 80's 760 in rather amusing video08 Sep 2004 22:30 GMT8
A late 80's 760 GLE complete with 2.8L V6 engine goes into a battle royal
with an Audi 80 and a Rover 416 of roughly the same vintage... The Volvo
wins in braking at least, and by a nice margin.... and it hits the brick
wall at 40mph not 30 like the other cars... and its the only ...
FS: 1966 Volvo 180008 Sep 2004 14:08 GMT1
Hello My name is Daniel from Pittsboro NC 919-542-5566.  I have been doing
the best I can to sell off a few auto tech's (including myself online) with
New, Used & Recondition parts that we have laying around at our business.
I'm finding it really hard to build trust and sell on the ...
Driver-side headlamp replacement on 1994 85008 Sep 2004 13:26 GMT1
Right behind the battery.
My last attempt at replacing the bulb worked (sort of).
I got the bulb screwed in tight at the cost of a bit of skin and
blood.
