my haynes manual states that there is a unit under the bonnet that
will show me fault codes, but i do not seem to have one, but i have a

if so looks like i cannot get the codes with the socket one.
Value & desirabiliy  '99  V70 T5m - sticker3.jpg (0/1)17 Jan 2005 06:59 GMT6
Have started the process to order a V70R (manual) --- and had the
dealer tell me that my car wouldn't bring much due to the 5spd
transmission.
Need a consensus on value and 'desirability' of my car:
97 850 Roof Strips17 Jan 2005 00:56 GMT1
Well, I just got back from the dealer and had the roof strips
replaced. The parts were slightly more than $160 EACH and installation
labor was $85. They're made out of the same sorry stuff the originals
were so I guess I'll get to go back in 5-6 years only to find they no
Volvo XC70/XC9017 Jan 2005 00:30 GMT12
I never see anything on this group about XC70 or XC90s; does no one own
those?
I'm looking for some opinions and experiences people have had with them.  We
are long-time Volvo owners, and have one of the last Volvos built before

Alarm problems with Volvo 940 Classic LPT 2.3l16 Jan 2005 22:27 GMT1
Hi - I have a 1996 Volvo 940 Classic LPT.
The factory fitted alarm goes off at random times.
I've searched the FAQ and can not see the answer.
I've tried bouncing on the car to see if its a trembler problem.
V40 Heater Blower16 Jan 2005 21:51 GMT2
1998 R V40. Non a/c blower problem.
The blower motor stopped working so I did a few diags on it. The motor is
fine as I connected across a 12V supply. I have also got 12v to the motor
and the resistor. The resistor is intact and when the switch is operated the
What is this part called?16 Jan 2005 21:16 GMT5
The flexible aluminum hose that goes from the exhaust heat
riser pipe to the air filter box on our 850 is ripped.  I
thought it was called a pre-heat hose, but I cannot find it
at IPDUSA.
740 Driveshaft swap16 Jan 2005 15:08 GMT3
I have a '87 740 wagon with driveline vibrations. I also have a '83 760
sedan parts rig that did not have any vibrations when parted out. Would
the 760 driveline interchange? I have a broken foot so I had hoped to
avoid the trip out to find the driveshaft in the barn if it won't fit ...
OP - general car query16 Jan 2005 09:32 GMT1
I am a committed volvo owner and watch this group with great interest. Some
obviously very knowledgeable folk out there. This is nowt to do with volvos
though.  My daughter just melted the wife's car on the motorway by running
it without water-twice!! (stupid girl) It now needs a ...
93 245 surging idle update16 Jan 2005 08:36 GMT1
My wife's '93 245 with the surging idle problem seems to have been
fixed with the replacement of the vacuum brake booster or some such.
At any rate, it idles smoothly in cold conditions (-15F lately).
I did send my wife to her mechanic with the list of suggestions from
740 alternator brush wear16 Jan 2005 03:18 GMT8
I have an apparent alternator problem with my 87 740 GLE.  Per my Haynes
manual I removed the regulator/brush assembly and found that the rear brush
(closest to regulator) was probably just about at the 5mm spec distance at
the low point of its concave and the contact edge was ...
Volvo 36016 Jan 2005 01:07 GMT15
How come you never hear of Volvo 360's? I have seen a couple advertised
(360GLT), seem comparitively quite cheap for what I call a better quality
car, as in fact do other Volvos with a few years on the clock. Various Volvo
forums don't even have a section for them... are they dogs ...
Volve 440 Key Barrel15 Jan 2005 21:53 GMT1
My key barrel appears to have frozen - i.e. I can't turn my key (or my
spare) to start the car. Is this an easy job to change? Anyone know if I
have to get the part from a Volvo 440 or will any others do the job
(thinking Renault here).
240 and 340 door locking mechanisums15 Jan 2005 21:48 GMT1
Are they the same? Will a 340 fit a 240?
Cheers
Bryan
