89 740 GL...help, no rotate12 Feb 2005 13:17 GMT15
The starter apparently went out on this car.  I would not turn the engine
over,  but there was the whirring sound of the starter motor running, but
not engaging the flywheel. I pulled the old starter off and checked the
flywheel, it looks OK.... all the teeth are still there. I ...
Uneven tyre wear12 Feb 2005 09:54 GMT8
I had new tyres fitted a few years ago to my '87 740, and at the same
time had the tracking (toe-in) set. The front tyres wore down on the
outside edges far more than the rest of the tread, so I had the
tracking rechecked at a different place.
1994 Volvo 850 driver's seat padding replacement.12 Feb 2005 08:55 GMT3
The padding on the driver's seat has sagged due to broken support wires
that are embedded within the foam pad itself. I visited the Volvo
dealership and they gave me a part number of #9136826, but the price was
over $200.
S80 HU-801 Radio12 Feb 2005 05:01 GMT1
I bought my first Volvo a few months back, a 2000 S80. It has the
upgraded stereo with the HU-801 radio, but the 4 CD changer doesn't
work. I've since heard this is a common problem. Does anyone know if
there's a "common fix" short of paying the dealer almost $600 for a
850 TDI start problems11 Feb 2005 19:57 GMT4
My TDI takes very long to start when its freezing below 10 degrees celsius.
With 0 degrees or minus 5 degrees it is no problem. The startengine cranks
it could be faster but it keeps on going, when the engine starts it is
running smoothly without smoking.
ball joint - tie rod ends11 Feb 2005 19:33 GMT8
My S70, it's a 98, is going to need new outer tie rod end on one side.
It is inspection time and these parts get checked. For my car they find
the passenger side has some play and none is allowed so it failed
inspection. Honestly I am glad they found this as the safety ...
Rear door Lock11 Feb 2005 17:29 GMT4
I tried opening the dorr of my S70 while my wife was unlocking the
doors, and the lock on one rear door got screwed up. What happens now is
that the door will lock, but not unlock. Has anyone encountered this
problem? Any tips on a not-so-expensive place to get it fixed?
1996 Volvo 850 Fuel tank recall.11 Feb 2005 14:01 GMT3
This is from NHTSA site. Problem is that it covers only some states, but we
up north also have hot summers. Maybe the problem is common to all 1996
Volvos 850 but Volvo (Ford) is playing it down.

Feasible to convert power windows to manual crank on 240 ?11 Feb 2005 04:35 GMT1
There have been very few times in the life of any of my 240GLs when all
four of the power windows were working perfectly, hence requiring the
old pop-the-switch-and scrape-the-contacts routine, a chore that
invariably gets left undone for long periods of time, usually when it's
97 850 ABS light11 Feb 2005 04:24 GMT3
Sometimes the ABS light will stay on and won't let me put the car into
gear. Usually it should last a few seconds but lately, every now and then,
it stays on for as long as a minute or once it just stay on. I can change
gear with the release button but I am afraid it will mess up ...

name, or password came with it.  Did I get taken or is their a way around my
dilemma??  The program loaded OK.
Thanks for the help
97 850 starter troubles10 Feb 2005 22:06 GMT7
Just purchased 97 850 wagon in great condition.  Had a 95 850 wagon
previously and loved it with no major issues.  A few days after buying it
began to have intermittent starting trouble.  When the key was turned
nothing would happen.  Lights and radio would come on but the engine ...

Ive just bought a standard 1997 2L V40, its the manual version with the
