my friend's 87 740 seems to have a random no
start. i checked it out tonight:
i turned the key to ON none of the lights came on
in the dash. i cranked it, but it just sputtered

I had a the head gasket changed today.
The garage is now closed for the day.
The car will not tick over and if the engine stops its almost impossible to
restart.

My Volvo dealer, after charging me $100 to diagnose the problem, informed me
that I need new oxygen sensors fore and aft of the catalytic converter on my
'01 S60 2.4T. Cost for the new parts and installation, plus a software
update: $735.

I have a 1998 S70, and I have a question about the door switch and unlock
switch. I was a dufus and separated the buttons from the underlying
switches. If you see the picture at

1991 940 SE. green with tan leather interior, 220K, automatic, ACC, PW/PL,
etc.  Tires about 50%
Turbocharger is defective, but otherwise the car runs and drives well.
Minimal rust over the left rear wheel opening, otherwise body is in fine

I have a noise coming from my right rear brakes that sounds like a
snowplow metal blade grinding on a concrete highway.
I took the wheel off, and it looks like the rotor is travelling in an
arc that is too far outboard, as though the piston has slowly pushed

Ok, had the Wagon (new to Me) for about a month...

my car is the 95 850glt spoken of in an earlier post- i am planning on
replacing the front O2 sensor, but now the question becomes: should i
get a direct fit or a solder/crimp style - is there a performance
difference? any good/bad experiences out there? thanks!

Picked up a 91 940 Turbo and need to RTFM

I have a 1959 Volvo Duett Wagon 2 door  in storage that I wish to sell. It
is a funny looking thing with front end that looks like a Volvo and back end
that is shaped like an old  "woody wagon" with 2 doors on the rear.  Needs
restoring but in fair shape and  would run.

The power antenna on my '95 850 stopped going up and down. You could
hear the motor run, but the mast never moved. So I Googled "Volvo
antenna" and bought a replacement mast. It's here now, but without
instructions.

The old faithful has finally blown a head gasket with 180,000 on the
clock. Recon engine, where ? Second hand, where ? Suggestions please,
useful ones. In for a cylinder pressure test next week but meanwhile ?

Has anyone put a MP3 Radio in a Cross Country? I have a 2004. I
thought Volvo would offer one this year. But no dice. Why?
