Did Jiffy Lube Kill my 240 Tranny?26 Apr 2005 06:50 GMT13
I have a 1984 240 DL automatic with 190,000. The tranny has always shifted
smoothly, except for not going into reverse when hot.
Jiffy Lube flushed and replaced the fluid the other day... A few miles
after leaving JL, the tranny started shuddering... Soon it barely worked
High maintenance cost26 Apr 2005 06:44 GMT13
I called my Volvo dealer in upstate NY for an
estimate on the cost of the 60K service on my
99 S70GLT.  They said it would be $725 and would
require 5 hours of time.  Does that seem like a
V70 Cargo Liner26 Apr 2005 01:29 GMT5
We have a 2004 V70 and we carry a lot of cleaning supplies and liquids.
Someone has told us they have seen a rubber/plastic liner for the cargo
area, something like a pick-up bed liner but the sides are not as high.
Does anybody have any product sources?

XC90 Transmission?24 Apr 2005 22:12 GMT1
This thing is strange....on a hill, in a forward gear, if you let your foot
off the brake it rolls backward fast...all the other autos I've owned at
least give you time to put your foot on the gas pedal...this thing is
scary...you have to double foot it, and wind up the engine ...
240 stops24 Apr 2005 14:31 GMT6
My 245 92 model with B230F engine stops when I'm driving.  There is no
sound from the fuelpump.  Turns than of the egnition and waits 1-2
minutes than it starts again and everything works fine. Does anyone know
what is wrong and where I should look?
98 S70 Gas Filler Door Won't Open24 Apr 2005 10:05 GMT6
OK... My gas door release button will not open the gas filler door.  Is
there a manual release somewhere?  (I don't have the manual for this
vehicle).
The door panel is off (for other reasons), but the trunk and gas door
1987 760 surges when cold24 Apr 2005 03:21 GMT2
I have a 1987 760 turbo (b230ft engine) that surges when cold and will
sometime stop and then be hard to start.  Any advice would be welcome.
Bypassing the IAC in a Volvo 74024 Apr 2005 01:33 GMT4
Howdy,
My 740 is reliable transport, but the body is in bad enough shape that
it really isn't a keeper. I've got an idle surge when cold but not when
warm. I read the faq, and have cleaned the TB, replaced the flame trap,
1984 240 Problems23 Apr 2005 20:58 GMT10
I’ve had my 1984 240 automatic for 18 months now with relatively few
major problems other than replacing the main fuel pump a few months
back.  It’s been driving kind of sluggish lately, though, as well as
having issues with staying in gear.  Both of these problems are much
Connecting Solar battery Maintainer23 Apr 2005 20:19 GMT11
Since our '88 240 has a switched lighter socket, what's
the best place on the fuse box to attach the leads from one of
these things?
No power - 940 S Auto23 Apr 2005 18:06 GMT3
It never has been the most powerful car, especially on hills or when fully
loaded.  But it has gotten much worse.  First noticed an oil leak which I
now believe was from a severely cut flame trap hose (have replaced hose).
At the same time I noticed the oil, the car started ...
tailgate washer won't work23 Apr 2005 17:18 GMT1
Hello, my rear tailgate squirty washer doesn't go.
It's a 1989 240 estate (wagon).
When I push the button on the stalk, the wiper moves, and the pump by the
water reservoir whirrs.  No water comes out the jets.
