I currently have a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon with 118k on it.  The car is
almost perfect in everyway.  I am wondering about going to a 1997 Volvo 850
T-5 Wagon with 149k.  Any suggestions if this would be a good move.  Is the
quality in one year better than the other?  Is the ...

*** 960 - blown engine20 Apr 2005 01:05 GMT18
Well to make a long story short, I've got a 1993 Volvo 960 sedan
w/approx 80K miles on it (yea I know I don't drive much) with a blown
engine.  One of the cylinders is heavily gouged.
My shop is quoting around 3200 to replace the engine.

I recently bought a really sweet 92 240 wagon, the overdrive was not
working. the light would turn on and off with the button, but the
solenoid wasn't working. What I found was the top of the solenoid was
melted off. Since I live in flat Florida, and have no need to turn

"System too rich (Bank 1)"
I've been fighting this thing for a while and frustration is building.
It can take up to ~240 miles for the code to come back when reset, less
when it's warmer out.
Tailight colours - regarding amber vs red turn signals, european cars.19 Apr 2005 03:10 GMT19
Hi...
Was just wondering something. For the longest while, all European cars that
I know of have had low wattage red running lights, higher wattage red brake
lights that came on overtop of the running lights, or in a separate part of
bearing noise s7018 Apr 2005 14:50 GMT3
I am hearing a knocking - tapping noise that sounds like it is coming
from one of the accessory items. The AC compressor, alternator, PS pump,
are my primary suspects. I have tried touching these items while the
engine is running to see if I can narrow it down and I can not reach ...

740 pinion seal replacement18 Apr 2005 13:46 GMT3
I have a pinion seal that is allowing lubricant past it.
I do my repairs in the driveway and am looking for pointers
to taking this on myself. Are there any special tools or
fixtures needed to do this? I have never had the axle apart on
'89 240 auto tranny, play in shifter18 Apr 2005 13:10 GMT3
there seems to be a good bit of looseness in the shifter mechanism lately,
more than I recall when I bought the car 4 years ago... no problems getting
into and out of the gears, and the transmission shifts fine, just a little
concerned that something's wearing/worn and should be ...
C70 convertible problem with window mechanism17 Apr 2005 21:56 GMT4
Some bad luck, which has a lesson learned...
Bought my C70 T5 convertible new in 2000, fine car, great to drive.
Everything OK except for not properly closing front windows, driver side
worse than passenger side. It was fixed under warranty a few times, but kept
Question on '88 240 wagon.17 Apr 2005 19:46 GMT4
I have a 1988 240 wagon. So far I had to replace the fuel tank and fuel

acts like someone shut the fuel off, just loses power, ...
