1990 760 Turbo wagon dies at random!26 Jun 2005 20:00 GMT18
This is going to sound like a repeat of an earlier situation with
another car.
We have a 1990 760 Turbo (intercooler) wagon with 147k miles.  The
vehicle will die at random, stop lights, freeway, city streets, etc.
1990 740 Braking problem - HELP!!26 Jun 2005 18:01 GMT8
I really need some help here.
Driving along, minding my own business, went to brake and everything was
very strange. Pedel felt a lot lower than normal. Came to a stop and on
engine idle, the pedel was all the way to the floor.
Question for Ontario Drivers26 Jun 2005 15:56 GMT7
If a mechanic "Certifies" a vehicle (a safety certificate) and the
vehicle does not meet the safety requirements, are they liable for
anything? I had assumed that if they certified a vehicle as safe and
it wasn't that they might suffer consequences like losing their
98 V70XC Heater Core - Whats That Smell?26 Jun 2005 14:24 GMT1
Just picked up a very nice 98 V70XC with a little over 100K from a local
used Volvo dealer.  Great car so far, but one troubling observation - every
time I switch from AC to heat by turning up the climate control thermostat,
I get a brief whiff of that maple syrup sweet ethelyne ...
Need intake duct for 89 740 GL25 Jun 2005 17:04 GMT1
I need a new air intake duct   (going from the air mass sensor to the
air intake) for my 89 740 GL.  The end at the intake is about 3.5
inches ID, while at the AMM end it is abt 3 inches ID. No doubt  it is
actually metric.  All the generic air ducts at Autozone have same ID

Is changing cam followers straight-forward, or are there any hidden
nightmares to worry about?
IPD Seat Covers25 Jun 2005 04:20 GMT1
I was given a pair of seats today, somewhat better than those in my 245
now, I am wondering if I remove the upholstery to make repairs will the
new IPD seat covers I have serve well enough to cover the internals of
the seats or will it really be necessary to re-upholster them to ...
240 Wagon, which year, model?25 Jun 2005 03:12 GMT1
I've got a guy who can locate cars for me and go to the auctions and such.
I'd like to get a 240 Wagon, but I'm looking for modern conveniences and
even something kind of *peppy*...so that's like early 90s?
I'd prefer an automatic but whichever transmission is most likely to be
Volvo Recommendations24 Jun 2005 22:52 GMT11
I currently drive a 1987 Volvo 240 with 203,000kms.  Reliable as all
hell.
I need to get a second car and have been tossing up between another
Volvo 240, or going a bit more modern with a 1997-1999 Volvo.  My only
Cost of a chipped Volvo key?24 Jun 2005 21:15 GMT10
I had to have a spare key made for my '99 C70 recently by the dealer,
and I was pretty surprised at the cost.
Key blank - $50
Key program - $35

Streaming web cams24 Jun 2005 16:31 GMT3
My daughter is going to be living in New York for the next twelve months.
I am looking to buy two streaming web cams so we can see and talk at the

Don't want to go for a camera unless it give god pictures.
Convert 245 to manual steering24 Jun 2005 15:25 GMT12
I have an 81 245.  If I pull the manual steering rack and associated
parts from an 80 242, will it bolt right in to my car so that I can
dump the power steering?  I notice the input shaft on the rack is 19mm
on my car and 14mm on the 80 but I thought I would grab the universal
Any recomendations for aftermarket Keyless entry kit?24 Jun 2005 14:06 GMT5
It seems volvo has no viable "kit" for keyless entry on my 1995 940 (4 door,
nonturbo).
So, I'm looking for recommendations and/or experiences with after-market
kits. I've found them on the web for around $50-60 US.
