1) I'm trying to build in a Tachometer in my Volvo 440, does anybody
have any advice on how to do this? E.g. can i build in any tachometer

does it has to be an specific Volvo 440 meter?

My a/c is not cold and I would like to recharge it. I thought this

On a Toyota newsgroup I frequent an owner has been told by the dealer's shop
that his engine block was porous. IIRC there was a run of engines (was that
in the 940s?) that were plagued by porosity and wondered if anybody had
information about how serious the problem is.

My 240 which runs very good get a pretty consistent 20 mpg driving
around town with half of the miles being freeway miles. What should a 84
240 get or this what it is supposed to be.
By the way, it is an automatic and a 4 banger.

I have a '79 240 that runs great until it has less than a half a tank o
gas. After that it will it will miss or "chug" during acceleration. Fil
it back up and it runs fine. I also always smell gas after driving
couple of miles but I can't find any leaks. Any ideas
