Volvo-Ford Question 19 Aug 2005 17:41 GMT7
I've been looking for the past 6 mos for a somewhat larger vehicle to
replace my 2000 S70T5, which is at 100K and which we use for extended road
trips.  I'm looking for something with the same power but a bit larger as a
"road car".  After looking all over, and not wanting to buy ...
850R Won't Start19 Aug 2005 06:38 GMT8
I have a 1996 850R with 118,000 miles and it won't start. It was running
fine until I stopped at a store. I came out and it started but ran very
roughly and at below 1000 RPM. It then won't start at all. I had to get it
towed home.
Instrument bulb replacements19 Aug 2005 00:45 GMT8
Anyone have an equivalent number or alternate source for the
instrument lighting bulb for the 240? Or am I going to have to pay at
Volvo?
These are the larger ones (there are two) that illuminate the
240 voltmeter-charging19 Aug 2005 00:13 GMT2
My '89 240 does not appear to charge fully when driving with the
lights on. The voltmeter goes slightly to the left. If I turn on the
AC it gets worse.
Sometimes it works fine.
S80 T6 "electrical system service required" message18 Aug 2005 13:16 GMT1
Okay, so I am at a mall and go to leave and the car won't start.  So I run
over to SEARS and they have a battery that is designed to fit the car
(almost unbelievably!) and I replace it and the car starts and everything is
good, right?
850 AC blower won't shut off wen ignition is off18 Aug 2005 13:13 GMT2
I have a '94 855 that had the AC modified by Volvo on a recall to make sure
that the AC blower would work long enough to dry out the condenser.  The
purpose was to prevent mold etc.
Recently it will not shut off.  In fact it has drained my battery twice.
V70 Interior Body Bits18 Aug 2005 08:40 GMT2
In the UK.
Does anyone know where I can go to get a replacement drivers side (RHD) sun
visor with mirror and also the drivers side door trim that goes from the
front door loudspeaker and incorporates the window switches and door handle.
V70/S60 console squeaks18 Aug 2005 07:33 GMT6
Volvo, in its Scandinavian wisdom, seems to have selected interior
plastics that make a horrible squeaking sound when they rub against
each other. The center console in my 2002 V70 makes quite a racket
going over bumps. Here are my questions:
Interesting article18 Aug 2005 05:37 GMT22
I have come to respect the posters in this discussion room, a more
thoughtful, worldly and intellectual lot than most other automotive

I'd like to share an article I read a few months ago which I found as
Replacement power antenna from Groton...18 Aug 2005 03:28 GMT2
Hey all. I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced the power antenna on
their S70 or even 850 (They are the same I believe) with one from Groton's?
I priced one at the local Volvo dealership and was amazed to find out it was
more than CDN $300 not installed! Groton's has one for US ...
S80 T6 engine mounts17 Aug 2005 19:28 GMT18
A question for the board.   I have a 2000 S80 T6 with about 58k miles
on it.  In the almost 6 years (purchased in Sept 99) that I have owend
it, I have replaced the engine/motor mounts 3 times.  While I admit
that I have a tendency to drive a little quickly, I do not "floor it".
Towing bracket17 Aug 2005 18:34 GMT2
I added a towing bracket on my Volvo 460.
No problem there.
The electricals have me a bit confused. The original Volvo car kit wasn't
available so I went for a general brand and installed it according to it's

Electrical Gremlin '89  780?16 Aug 2005 19:39 GMT3
When I turn off the ignition switch (key) the radio and heater control unit
remain on. This is a new phenomena and I thought possibly something inside
ignition the switch was bad and not turning off  the juice?
Any help or exprience would be appreciated.
Advice on selling a 240 (UK)16 Aug 2005 13:42 GMT1
I have a 1988 F-reg 240 DL, 2.3 carb, estate.
I bought it a couple of years back for £750 and I want to sell it to a
friend and colleague in the net few months.
Before I got it, it had had a new radiator and battery.  In the last year,
