2000 V40 Pet Barrier27 Sep 2005 14:10 GMT5
I just purchased a 2000 V40.  Any ideas where I can get some kind of
barrier to keep my dogs in the back?  All the pet barriers I find are
for V40's from 2001 on.  Are there any out there that I can use on a
2000 V40?  Has anyone thought up another solution they want to share?
(Lack of) appeal of older Volvos (240)27 Sep 2005 13:30 GMT71
I recently purchased my first Volvo, a 92 240 wagon.  I love it, it's
clean inside and out, not much rust, higher than average mileage but
well maintained and in good operating condition.  I was looking for a
roomy winter car and think I got that and a whole lot more.  There are
Poor Accelleration - 74027 Sep 2005 13:16 GMT7
UK spec 1989 740 GL Estate.  2.0ltr Auto fuel injected.  Pre Lambda Sond
model with std (not catalytic) exhaust.  123,000 miles and always regularly
serviced by Volvo.
The car was never particularly good on accelleration, it used to do 0-60mph
Anyone ever had to repair leather seats?27 Sep 2005 08:42 GMT5
My 1991 780 has a problem where the seam is starting to split on the
exact same spot on the front leather seats.  The split is 6 inches or
less but I would like to nip it in the bud so to speak before the
problem gets worse.  The rest of the seat on both of them looks just
Q: where to connect permanant 12v live to 850 fusebox, for caravan fridge supply.26 Sep 2005 19:19 GMT4
going to put a towbar on my 850, need to connect a live 12v to feed
into the boot area to a relay box to allow fridge running in caravan.
its supposed to be 12v permanent and have no other loads on the 12v.
looks like it could be a pain to get through the bulkhead!
Difference between 20v and 10v V/S70?26 Sep 2005 19:15 GMT5
What is the difference between the 10v and 20v V/S70 range of volvos?
Are there differences in fuel economy or performance? Should the 10v
ones be avoided? I guess the 2 litre engines will be best avoided as
probably a bit small for the size of the car.
850 vibration26 Sep 2005 03:42 GMT11
Hi, my 850 estate @ 153k miles is producing a little vibration.  It's
not engine related and not, wheel balance as there's no movement of the
steering wheel which I would expect.
I'm suspecting at this age that it's more of a worn suspension
V70XC70 - MY 2001 - Fuel Situation26 Sep 2005 02:12 GMT1

Bleeding power brakes. Engine "ON" ?25 Sep 2005 14:42 GMT8
I recently replaced the front calipers (and rotors) on my 245 GL (I
suppose that after 20 years with the same calipers, even with a Volvo
you eventually have to change them [insert winking smiley])which of
course means I need to bleed the system.
1998 V70 AC clicking sound24 Sep 2005 19:50 GMT6
Have a 1998 V70 with less than 90K miles. Quite recently, the AC seems to
click in and out, cycling once every 5 seconds or so. The clicking sound can
be heard inside the car, and the clutch just to the left of the belts can be
seen to engage . [Or it could have been doing this ...

240 parts

another 240 vibration noise found... but what's the cure?23 Sep 2005 15:13 GMT3
I replaced all three motor mounts today (two motor mounts and the
tranny mount to be specific). While under there I found the last(?)
source of the vibration rattle. The parallel pair of 90 degree bent
header pipes that goes from the exhaust manifold towards the catalytic
Recently acquired 1989 740/B230E rough starting23 Sep 2005 15:11 GMT23
Is there a common fault which causes rough cold starting which is
quickly cured by a couple of blips on the throttle?
The car conked out on a run recently due to the black hose just beside (part
of?) the auxiliary air valve disconnecting itself, so I thought I'd better
'88 240 fuel pump relay not switching on23 Sep 2005 05:56 GMT2
I'm trying to figure out a problem with an '88 240 that I bought to put
a V8 into.
I needed to start it to shift it around the yard but it just wouldn't
start.  The fuel pumps weren't running and there was no power at the
960 cuts out/stalls23 Sep 2005 05:35 GMT8
I'm having issues with my 1994 960 where all of a sudden sometimes I'll
lose some engine power and it'll become rough whereas other times it'll
stall(in kinda a weird way, I'll lose all responsiveness and the tach
drops to 0 at which point it all the dash lights come on ...
