Removing valve shims on a B230F 8-valve21 Jun 2006 21:52 GMT3
Yesterday while I had the valve cover off and was measuring valve
clearance, I attempted to compress a valve with a flat-blade
screwdriver to test how easy it might be to remove the shims when the
time comes.
Service light...no codes/ '94 850 85021 Jun 2006 12:46 GMT8
Got back from the UK last night, and pulled the '94 850 n/a out of
long term parking at the airport...8 days since last driven.
I got a Service Engine light immediately, but it went out after 2 or 3
minutes. Car ran fine. Stopped a few minutes later for fuel (I left it
Question about valve clearances on a B230F21 Jun 2006 03:03 GMT3
So today I pulled the valve cover and measured the valve clearances. I
must say I'm surprised and wanted to run some things past you all.
I started from #1 cylinder at TDC and worked backwards. Using bent
feeler gauges I measured all valves from cylinders 1-3 at .508 mm -
'97 960 Air pump21 Jun 2006 01:39 GMT11
I just purchased this car knowing the check engine light was on.  I
took the risk knowing it could be a problem but the price was right.
When diagnosed : EF1448 - air pump flow too low and EF1442 - Flow
malfunction.
Volvo 240 front door speaker depth21 Jun 2006 01:36 GMT1
Does anyone know the maximum depth speaker than can be mounted in the
upper part of the front doors of a 1990 240?  As far as I can tell from
surfing around the internet, the maximum depth seems to be 1 7/8" but I
am not sure.

Hi I'm a newbie to the group so please excuse me if I ask a question
that everyone is sick of.
So here it is,  my lad has just bought a 1987 740 GLE with teh B230F

Thinking About Selling '88 240 - Upstate NY20 Jun 2006 20:01 GMT3
We have had this car for about 8 years. The previous owner
used it for commuting, and to drive to Florida and back. We
mainly used it for commuting until the last year or two, so
most of the 160k miles are highway. I've replaced the radiator
S60 Petrol Cap Failure20 Jun 2006 09:11 GMT3
The black plastic hinge on the petrol cap cover on my S60 has
shattered, and the door will no longer stay in place.
Until I have time to get this checked out, are there any generic
lockable petrol caps that I could use to replace the non-lockable one

94 940 Rough idle after air filter change? AMM?19 Jun 2006 22:05 GMT9
I just replaced my air filter in my 94 940 with a K&N. In the process I
disconnected the air mass meter harness so I could move the top half of
the air box out of the way. Immediatey after I installed the new air
filter (and replugged-in the AMM harness) the idle became a little bit

740 Speedometer Sending Unit Question19 Jun 2006 01:13 GMT17
Howdy folks,
Yesterday I tried to find the cause of my speedometer issue. It has a
mind of its own. Usually only kicks in after driving down the highway
at speed for a short while.
2006 S60 2.5T MPG18 Jun 2006 17:23 GMT14
My new Volvo is only on the second tank but I'm barely getting 22MPG
with 75% hwy and the rest city.  Does the engine have to break in first
or is this about right? I drive about 72MPH on the highway.  Thanks in
advance
