Yesterday I started at the brake pedal, examined the electrical switch
the pedal contacts, and traced the vacuum hose from that switch through
the firewall. On the engine side of the firewall, the vacuum hose comes
out about 8 inches, and isn't connected to anything.

I recently (last week) bought a 1990 740 GLE wagon with the 16 Valve DOC
engine and 112K miles. I'm gradually checking things over.

There's an United petrol station down my street which has been selling
ethanol petrol and claims its grade is 98 octane. I tried using it on the
Volvo 240. But it seems to make it sluggish. I was using BP Ultimax 98
octane for years and seems better.

On my 1987 740, I'm noticing a "hum", intermittently from what I think
is a vacuum device. If you look at the cable spool attached to the
throttle body, a cable on the end goes toward the firewall, through a
diaphragm looking, black rubber 'thingy', and into the firewall. With

Air coming out of A/C vents very weak.
Diagnosis:
I traced the vacuum line through the firewall and to the T fitting

I have a 1986 740 GLE Wagon.  For the past two months I have had to fill it
up every 80 miles or it will stop running like it is out of gas even though
te fuel indicator says it has over half a tank. When it starts to sputter as
I drive it, I pull into a station and fill up. Then ...

My 90 740 turbo intercooler has begun showing  Blue/white smoke  when
engine is warm. (the needle is in the middle of temp gauge)
I looked at the dip stick, after a while, and the level didn't
decrease, so the car doesn't consume extra oil, that's my problem.

I've been looking for any and all vacuum leaks possible. Right now I'm
looking into why I get hot air pumped into the car and little to no air
coming out of the vents, even with the fan on high.
I'm going to check under the dash, but wanted to make sure I checked

Can anyone tell me what is involved regarding a driver side airbag, 2000

SRS light has come on.. the shop cleaned driver side contacts, reconnected
it.. and it has come on again.. quote $500 plus for a new airbag.. ouch...

I have a problem where the above will not stay closed when you press it in.

I've been reading a bit about warped rotors, overtorqued lug nuts,
turning versus sanding rotors, and measuring the specs of the rotors'
thickness, etc.

Don't know what the record for original timing belts lasting is but I
just bought a 1997 960 with 145,000 and had the timing belt changed for
the first time.  I confirmed with the previous owner and he checked
with the original owner.  My understanding is that it should be changed

My speedometer on my 89 745GL 8 valve automatic is either not reading or it
bounces all over the place.
What could be the cause and what would be the repair

Just curious,
If I cleaned my throttle body and reassembled it without changing the
manifold gasket, what would the symptoms be, if the old gasket isn't
holding its seal?
