E-code lights are now onboard (almost)03 Jun 2006 04:20 GMT2
Well, let me start at the end - as the red wine attempts to kill the
pain in my legs, back and arms.  ;-)
Wiring for the e-codes took about 2 hours - and was very relaxing and
therapeutic. I studied Dan Stern's diagrams for 2 months and had all of
P1800S Restoration03 Jun 2006 04:03 GMT3
I'm restoring a 1966 P1800S. It came with a wood rim steering wheel.
Unfortunately the stainless steel has cracked and can't be welded. Can
anyone help with a replacment?

First time with "TireRack.com" -- good first impression03 Jun 2006 03:51 GMT6
My 1987 740 I bought in March seems to have tires purchased during the
Civil War. They are old Michelins that are dry-rotted and I've been
driving around with a sphincter factor of 7 for the last week or so
that the car's been running well after the engine rebuild.
Idle Air Control Valve03 Jun 2006 02:01 GMT1
1994 940 turbo wagon

Took my Idle Air Control valve off to clean it out.  In FAQ's it mentions
that one should get a reading of 20 ohms between inner and outer terminals
940 GLE starting problems02 Jun 2006 17:56 GMT2
Sometimes, my car does not start when I turn the ignition key ON. Until
recently, I thought it was the starter. So I replaced the starter. The
problem did not go away. Infact it got worse.
The funny thing is, if it doesn't start when I turn the ignition ON, then
coolant loss02 Jun 2006 04:31 GMT3
Folks,
I have started to lose coolant from my '84 245 DL w/200k+. It's got a
relatively new (20K)metal radiator. I've checked the overflow tank cap
and can't see any cracks, the oil looks fine with no suds and I can't
740 hood latch sticking on one side02 Jun 2006 04:23 GMT5
My 1987 740 has a sticky hoodlatch on the driver side. There are two
holes that a spring on either side locks into. When you pull the hood
release cable it releases a catch that grabs the springs.
This is one of those things where I have tried to visually inspect but
V70 Tdi ticking / other ? problems ?01 Jun 2006 23:14 GMT6
Just got a clean condition March 1997 V70  2.5 Tdi with approx 150,000 miles
on the clock and full service history. It runs well and gives good economy
but I have a few problem / queries which people here might be able to help
me with...

AC stops working after 10-15 minutes - Volvo, S70 SE, year 200001 Jun 2006 17:09 GMT3
I have a problem with the Air Conditioning in my Volvo. After 10-15
minutes of working just fine it stops working and it will blow only air at
the outside temperature. If I shut down the engine for a while the air
conditioning will start working again for another 10-15 minutes.
Racing idle when hot 1984 240 GLE01 Jun 2006 16:21 GMT1
When the beast starts all is fine, but after driving for a while and warming
up, the idles goes to about 1300rpm when I slip it into neutral.
Any clues pls?  Quick things to check.  Links to brick board?  I have tried
some but no joy.
Just a few (more) questions -- air conditioning and heating...740 GLE01 Jun 2006 13:39 GMT1
Thanks to everyone who has been so helpful in the past. Being I'm a 35
year old Volvo newbie, balancing trying to restore this car, while
playing husband and daddy to a 5 year-old boy, I wish there was more
time in the day to tinker with cars.
Do I need 2 or 4 wheel alignment on a front wheel drive car?01 Jun 2006 13:07 GMT2
I would think I just needed a 2 wheel alignment for the wife's front wheel
drive car but then somewhere I've read stated its better to have a 4 wheel
alignment done. Now I'm confused so a little advice will be appreciated.
CV Joint Replacement01 Jun 2006 13:03 GMT1
Hi There..
Can anyone tell me if the CV joints on the S70 are the same as those on
the older 850 ?
Thanks
b230 piston to rod alignment - follow manual or how it was running?01 Jun 2006 12:58 GMT2
OK, I am rebuilding the bottom end of my b230.  Kind of.  I had open
heart surgery about a month and a half ago, so I can't lift more than
twenty pounds.  Because of this, I decided not to drop the tranny and
change/ grind the crankshaft.  Instead I will collect parts, so when
