740  2.4 Turbo Diesel05 Jul 2006 02:10 GMT4
After 500,000 miles the camshaft has broken on my 1990 Volvo Diesel Estate
(Converted to a Pick-Up in 1999)
Does anyone know how much work is involved in fitting a petrol engine as a
replacement? Is the wiring loom the same? What other problems exist?

as follows.
I blew a piston on my 89 Volvo 744 Turbo and bought a 94 Volvo 940

Need Advice for Mud Flap Install04 Jul 2006 15:35 GMT2
The dealer wants 125.00 to install mudflaps.  I already have the flaps.
I'm leasing the car (2006 S60) and would rather save some money right
now. To install them myself, as suggested, I need to remove all the
tires and then rivet them on.  I'm thinking of simply glueing them on

FOAK: 1980 240DL tach. problem04 Jul 2006 03:07 GMT1
Hoping to acquire some of the vast experience present on this newsgroup.
Here's the problem:
I gotta have a tachometer.  Don't like to drive strictly by ear.  So, I went
to my local salvage yard and found a '79 244, 4 spd. with a tachometer.
1990 240 clunking/ catching when in gear04 Jul 2006 02:53 GMT7
Hello, I have a 1990 240 DL wagon that I just finished doing a whole
lote of work on.  I started it and everything seemed fine, but when I
went to back it out of the garage, I noticed a clunking noise from the
drivetrain (not on startup - more like something is catching on
Has anyone replaced the carpet in a 940 sedan?04 Jul 2006 02:14 GMT14
I have a '95 940 sedan with carpet that is getting a little too worn.
I've googled for a replacement source and found surprisingly few.
The ones I did find would only mention carpet replacement kits for
the 740. Would the 740 be an exact replacement for my 940?
Timing belt tensioner failure S70 T5 199803 Jul 2006 20:10 GMT11
I changed the timing belt at 60,000 miles and was getting ready to
change it again at 130,000 miles. Unfortunately the tensioner failed at
125,000 miles. The engine is shot.
Only 2 cylinders are still good. Why cannot Volvo design cars where the
1998 V70 Glovebox03 Jul 2006 20:05 GMT1
My glove box cover rattles with an annoying buzz at speeds below 40mph.
Pushing the door and releasing it stops the rattle for a few seconds, then
the buzzing starts again. Leaving the door open silences the noise, but
then it looks a mess.
95 854T Valve Train Noise on Startup03 Jul 2006 19:15 GMT5
Car has 144k Km, always dealer serviced at recommended intervals, oil
changed every 8000 Km or less.  On cold start (even in warm weather) the
valve train clatters loudly for ~ 2-3 seconds on startup. Noise
completely disappears after than, and doesn't recur until next cold
Historic Volvo Pricees03 Jul 2006 06:07 GMT3
Is there any place I can find historic Prices for Volvos? Like want a 94
940 was worth in 2002?
I could sift through the Archives of this group but I suspect it will be
spotty.
2000 S70 heater blower noisy02 Jul 2006 16:34 GMT1
To all,
The blower in my S70 (2000) is noisy.  How hard is it to replace and
what is the procedure?  Any help would be appreciated.

V40 intermittent brake problem02 Jul 2006 13:00 GMT3
Sometimes when I start my v40 and shift it into drive car start moving
forward brakes are not working. Brake pedal is hard and it takes almost
10m distance to stop the car, it keeps creeping forward.
After 5 min or so, brakes would start working normally. This problem
Volvo 740 gle 16 valve - replace distributor cap02 Jul 2006 06:33 GMT1
I have a noob question. Ok. I want to replace my distributor cap,
rotor, and wires. I have been told that if you mess this stuff up you
can screw up the timing. So, is this the same timing that makes the 16
valves smash up when the belts break? It would really suck to cause
