Starting to put my 740 to the test and I'm pleased29 Aug 2006 00:00 GMT1
After spending the last 7 months getting my 1987 740 in shape, I am
finally starting to see dividends.  The point was to spend the money
necessary to get this car capable of being my everyday commuter. I sold
my Honda to eliminate a car note ($400) because I only live about 8
Tracs off light has come on 1997 850 GLT Wagon28 Aug 2006 15:53 GMT2
My Tracs off light has been off for quite some time now, and I'd like
to get it fixed. I am hoping that the code 443 is something that is
cheaper than replacing the entire Tracs control module. Does anyone
know?
Volvo 240 failed MOT28 Aug 2006 11:06 GMT7
Our car today failed its MOT on several points.  Couple of minor things like
needing new numberplates, a light was not working and a couple of tyre
issues.
One of the issues though we are unsure about the possible cost to replace.
Chrome exhaust finisher 1999 Volvo S70...28 Aug 2006 08:59 GMT1
All,
I have ordered a new exhaust tip for my car as the existing one is
falling apart. It's original so I think it's time for replacement. I
see there is a single bolt on the bottom and I'm wondering if it's as

I have a 1994 940 and the crank sensor has broken off the back off the
gearbox.
What is the purpose of the crank sensor and can it be bypassed?
Thanks
1985 360GLT the saga continues26 Aug 2006 23:56 GMT2
Thanks for the replies, except for the ones questioning my sanity and
parentage, regarding the diesel engine conversion. Now for a 'need it soon'
question. The front left side electric window motor has given up the ghost.
No luck contacting dismantlers for a second hand unit. Can ...

Hello there...
I am neu to Volvos having been a VW  person for decades due to
brainwashing but as I am considering changing  my present car a 1987 VW

I changed the batterie out and now my stereo does not work! It is
prompting me for a CODE, which I do not have/know. I am the 2nd owner

Thanks.
1991 240SE Wagon Still not Starting25 Aug 2006 22:44 GMT5
Im going to try one last time to get this running since the local Volvo
shop wants $140 to diagnois the car and it will be $75 to get it towed.
The car will start 1st thing in the morning and run for about 3 seconds
so I am guessing its not getting fuel. I though tmaybe the Ignition
1987 740 spilling coolant from radiator plug25 Aug 2006 21:59 GMT5
Today I was sitting in a long line at a drive-through restaurant, like
30 minutes in 100F weather with the engine running and A/C going.
The temperature gauge never went above about 1/2 way on the dash, which
is the usual range for the car.  When I parked the car I noticed
'98 XC vibration with left turns.....25 Aug 2006 21:25 GMT1
Have been to dealer twice for audible/palpable (with your feet) "rubbing" or
mild vibration apparently from the front left corner when turning left,
worse with power on, but also with trailing throttle into a left hander....
hoped this was the wheel bearing (just did the other ...
PCV Box, performance, and root cause of sludge?25 Aug 2006 21:15 GMT1
I have a 99 Volvo s-80 2.9L non-turbo. I have been through a lot with
the car that I won't get into but the latest is that the dealer's
service people say that the car needs a new PCV box because it is
sludged closed, they think. I am a little skeptical, especially when
S70 check engine light and battery removal25 Aug 2006 21:00 GMT3
My battery was disconnected to do some maintenance, one of which was the
replacement of my SAS valve/air pump, which triggered the Check Engine
light. So far, the light hasn't come back on yet after 150 miles and a
week of driving. Is that sufficient mileage / car starts to be ...
considering '01 V40 wagon25 Aug 2006 20:04 GMT1
Seriously considering this model as it's better on gas than an Outback,
is certainly more saftey minded (two infants) and well, it's not
japanese. Is there any special considerations I should take into
account when shopping? Known troubles, things to look out for, repairs
