Fouling of plugs in '86 Volvo 240GL11 Oct 2006 18:50 GMT7
My 1986 Volvo 240GL has suddenly started fouling the plugs in a very short
time.  I have brought it to the local mechanic, discovered it was getting
too much fuel and has replaced the fuel injection ECU, however it hasn't
solved the problem.  He indicated the sensors were OK and ...

850 Turbo Wagon Service Light11 Oct 2006 13:23 GMT1
Well, I decided to break the old Volvo out this weekend. We used to own
a 92 240 Wagon, and we currently have a 95 850 Turbo Wagon. We stopped
driving it entirely. I bought a Tacoma Doublecab with 27K on it and we
have been driving that exclusivly for quite some time. I took the old
Help - Volvo 2.9 S8011 Oct 2006 13:16 GMT1
Just had alternator replaced on my S80 following which the reversing lights
don't work.  Fuse in the trunk is OK.
Any ideas as to the cause - is there a wire / connection which could have
been disturbed whilst changing the alternator?
V70 Stumble11 Oct 2006 01:25 GMT7
I have a '98 V70 2.4. It has been running great, but recently it has
developed a slight stumble at idle. Hard to describe but it feels like
the ignition dies for just a split second, a cylindar (or maybe two?)
misfire, then everything is fine. It is very intermittant, only doing
XC70 Sloppy-ish Steering10 Oct 2006 20:15 GMT1
I am looking at purchasing a 2004 XC70 with 48k.  Everything on it is in
great shape.  While test driving the little gem (the car was warmed up, dry
pavement, 60 degrees, and new tires), when I took it into a few 30mph
corners at about 35-40 , the steering seemed a little sloppy. ...

Front suspension popping on 244 turbo....10 Oct 2006 04:04 GMT5
I have an '84 244 turbo and the right front tire makes a loud pop sound
with spring noise when making hard left or right turns.  It seems like
something popping back and forth as it will pop once when making right
turns, and then pop back when making a left turn.  I have jacked the
940 Turbo Wagon Electrical Issues09 Oct 2006 23:40 GMT1
Just purchased a 940 Turbo Wagon from a friend and knowing that I would be faced with a few issues I still went ahead a purchased it.
The biggest issue is that the battery is draining down. I can't really identify why.
It is related somehow to the fuel gauge working and then ...

Cold Startup Noise09 Oct 2006 19:43 GMT1
I have a 04 S40 (1.9Liter Turbo) with about 42K miles.  Great car, but
on cold startup I get an annoying see-saw creaking noise that goes on
and off at 1 sec intervals for about 1 minute.   I asked the dealer and
they said it was normal aux electr IC vacuum pump (whatever that is)

I want to renew the timing belt on my 740, with the B230E engine.  I
purchased a Haynes manual this morning and don't find it all that clear. It
keeps jumping about round the different models.  Does anyone know if I have
interpreted the manual correctly that you don't need a tension ...

I am a long time BMW owner and self repairer (520i 1984)
I am looking at buying a 1996 Volvo 850 wagon, which I like, but I am
worried about a couple of things. First of all it has done 275,000 kms

Power Seat Failure, '91 94008 Oct 2006 23:10 GMT2
The Power seat on my '91 940 has stopped working.  I replaced the fuse that
operates it, but that didn't make any difference --- still doesn't work.
Anyone familiar enough with the mechanism to offer some thoughts as to what
might be the problem?
