How do I remove the stereo in my '87 Volvo?04 Feb 2007 08:53 GMT1
The stereo is located below the ashtray. It's not the factory stereo.
I have NO CLUE how to get this bugger out, but I don't want to spend
the big bucks to have Car Toys install my new stereo.
I'm not mechanically inclined whatsover.
95 Volvo 850 Brake Light Problem03 Feb 2007 13:23 GMT3
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
All the brake lights (both sides and high mount) have stopped working.  The
fuse looks good and has been replaced as a precaution.  Both bulbs have been
replaced.  When I put a meter across the fuse connection, I see 12 volts

Fault code question03 Feb 2007 04:37 GMT4
My wife's 1993 240 wagon's "check engine" light came on in below-zero
cold weather a couple of days ago.  The local mechanic checked the codes
and found a 3-2-2.  He cleaned the wiring harness contacts for the AMM
and cleared the codes.  He said if the light came back on, he'd ...
Is it possible to flush-out fuel systems (fuel pumps) on Volvos?03 Feb 2007 03:16 GMT1
I believe I received contaminated gasoline; which can damage the fuel-
pump. As a (much) more inexpensive alternative than replacing the fuel
pump, is it possible to have the fuel tank pumped-out, and to flush-
out the fuel system i.e., fuel-pump?
Two 240 problems....03 Feb 2007 02:08 GMT6
Okay, I have two very unrelated problems with my '84 240 that seem to
keep cropping up that I can't figure out.  Any insight would be much
appreciated....
1.  A couple years ago I replaced the torque rod bushings because they
Oil Leaking piece of @#$%^02 Feb 2007 18:14 GMT5
We have a 2001 XC70 Turbo.  This is the worst of all oil leakers,  I've
looked under it and can't find the source of the leak.  My garage floor is
starting to look like the LeBrea Tar pits.  I'm sure it will qualify for a
national clean up site.
'94 850 Turbo Dealer estimate for repairs:02 Feb 2007 17:22 GMT8
Here is the death knell delivered by my Volvo dealer:
"Timing belt pulleys throwing metal shavings.  Estimate to replace
idler pulley, tensioner pulley, hydraulic tensioner, and timing belt $913.

V-70 Steering wheel02 Feb 2007 17:07 GMT2
I find that the "plastic" material covering the steering wheel is losing
the surface where my thumb is placed during driving.  Has anyone any
ideas of perhaps a product to stop further wear which is not as
unsightly such as wrapping it with tape
240 power steering leak-scary quote!02 Feb 2007 05:09 GMT13
I'm in Australia.
I've been quoted almost AU$1000 to have a leak in my 85 240 repaired.
The mechanic has advised he needs to replace the rack and boots.  I
can get a guaranteed second hand rack from a wrecker for $150, and I'm
Ratteling Noise Coming From Rear Of Car?02 Feb 2007 04:28 GMT8

how to describe it!
85 245 starter motor removal02 Feb 2007 03:39 GMT4
It's starting to snow out so it gave me an excuse to come in for
awhile.
I'm one bolt away from removing the starter so that I can replace it
and that one bolt (the one on the passenger side that's in a spot
Key for 850?01 Feb 2007 20:39 GMT5
Anybody know of a locksmith who can cut '95 850 key, in Canada or North
America preferably? The only dealer here wants $75 per key, which I consider
a little excessive and none of the local locksmiths have the equipment.
Toronto area would be great as I have someone there who can ...
Tune up and Idle still Sucks01 Feb 2007 19:48 GMT22
I bought a 1990 740 GL wagon for my wife, then she dumped me and took
the Toyota
(not as dumb as I thought ;-)  Seems like ever since she left it has
gone downhill.  The
Windshield wipers vs cold01 Feb 2007 16:52 GMT1
As the cold weather arrived (-20C), the wipers on my 98 S70 have slowed
down considerably... Any idea about the possible problem and how hard is
it to fix?
Thanks,
