Apparently, insurance company repairs as well as 'total loss' claims are lowballed as a general practice. I just read an article at www.claimsreporter.com that says that you can get on average, the ~$2K difference needed to get a replacement ride (vs. trade-in)... for sure, if ...

| '93 850 heater motor won't run | 30 Mar 2007 18:31 GMT | 2 |
Today I discovered that my battery was dead after 10 days of non-use and that the heater fan motor won't run. Lights blink on the control panel to indicate a problem and fault codes 4-1-7 and 4-1-8 come up. 4-1-8 seems to be the likely one indicating a lack of "control signal

My p/s rack is shot and is leaking from the seals. I've been quoted about $1500 to have it done at a local shop, but I'm wondering how difficult a job this would be to do myself? Does anyone have much experience with this?
